I just started trying to use CLONEDVD2 and AnyDVD. I have ANYDVD enabled and every DVD I try to clone I get this message

"This DVD is Copy-protected.
Clone DVD2 is not for use in copying protected DVD's...bla bla bla"

I thought that ANYDVD will override the CSS protection. What can I do to get it to work?

please state the version numbers of your software.

is anydvd recognizing the disc at all? If so, post the anydvd info window for that drive.

ok, sometimes stalking is a good thing...I just tracked down another post by you in which you said you had dvd43 installed on your system. anydvd and dvd43 have known conflicts.

uninstall both programs FULLY, reboot, then reinstall anydvd and reboot as instructed. My money is on this as the issue.

I figured it out, I had tweaked with some of the settings and it's good now. The only real problem I'm having is this: It reads the original DVD no problem and all I have to do is put in a fresh DVD-R and press BURN a message says

"Writing to video media was not successful:
media write error

A write error has occurred, probably caused by bad media.
Please replace the media and try again"


OK the dvd I was trying to use was a MEMOREX 16x 4.7 GB DVD R and it won't work--I tried using two or three different brand new ones from the same pack.

I searched around and found an unused one that is identical other than the fact that it can only record at 8x...Any ideas what this problem might be?

Dump The Memorex!

No dis intended Do a search on cdf: keyword memorex. See what I mean?

And, for player compatibility, slow your burns down to 4X on 8X media or 6X-8X on 16X media. Backing up computer text or graphics files is fine at fast speeds ... backing up movies so they have DVD-player compatibility is a different set of rules. Slow it down. Don't use crap media.

What is the version number of AnyDVD that you are you running?

Because reasonsnotrules is correct about dvd43 causing a conflict and although you ("tweaked with some of the settings and it's good now") ripping problems could reoccur if you are using version 5.5.1.1 or lower of AnyDVD.

Your burning problem is still memorex caused.

My wife got me some Memorex DVD-R's for Xmas. I about had a heart attack. I will use them in place of DVD+RW's for writing tv shows out for my friends. LOL

you two should talk to each other more, especially about media. lol

You ain't kidding! Her response was "that's all they had at FYE." I was mortified. It's ok, I always like having media I can give to friends. EVIL GRIN

Maybe it will encourage them to either A> Get a freaking TIVO, or B> Watch the shows when they're on instead of having me record them for them.

How do I slow down my burn speeds?

on your last screen for clonedvd, on the right hand side it will say maximun in a drop down box, change it to the rated speed of your disc's
