Overburning DVDs on Matshita UJ-820S?

I'm new to this stuff (all hardware, actually, heh), so please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

I have a Toshiba M30 laptop with a Matshita UJ-820S DVD burner. I've burned a couple DVDs already successfully, and I want to burn another, but I need slightly more space than what's available on the DVD (about 30 MB more).

I'm using Nero to burn my stuff. I've set the overburn limits and such to sufficient space, but whenever I try to burn, it fails.

Any ideas on what's wrong and/or how to fix it? Also, if I'm short on info, please tell me.

Re: Overburning DVDs on Matshita UJ-820S?

Only a few burners can overburn DVD.
Even if they fail at the end of the burn, the media/content mostly is intact.

Re: Overburning DVDs on Matshita UJ-820S?

Yeah, overburning can be pretty tough for a burner... At that point I'd see if I could find an extra I could slice out with VobBlanker or just run part of it through DVD Shrink for a small quality reduction.
