Memorex 32Maxx 1240AK burning at 16x instead of 32x

Hi !

I've got a Memorex 32Maxx 1240AK.
With this drive I should burn a CD at a maximum speed of 32x.
But unfortunately, with Nero, I can only select a maximum speed of 16x.

My actual motherboard is a ABIT NF-S rev. 1.2, but with my previous A7V8X the same situation occured.

The Memorex drive is as secondary slave.
I've formatted my hard drive, used different recording programs, but all of this without any effect.

Can someone help me out ?

The drive doesn't recognize the disc, so it defaults to 16x. Using old, 32x certified media would probably work better if you can find some store that has very old stock.

MMore
Imation
Mam Golden Dye (from Mitsui)
PrimeDisc

Well if this is really is true, it really sucks this drive

Memorex could really release a new firmware to solve this matter.
I googled but didn't find new firmwares for Memorex 32Maxx 1240AK (not AJ).

the problem is almost definitely caused by the fact that you're using an nforce board...I'm having the same problem with my a7n8x and my new sony dvdr, I also had the same problem with my memorex 48maxx (would only burn at 24x)

I also thought that, but I've used the Windows IDE drivers and the NForce2 drivers, both with the same issue.
