Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

US03 is not supported yet. Anyway, the -R table in US03 looks like the table in US01. There might be a displacement of one entry in the unsorted -R table. Set MBI 03RG40 to 12x to check if this changes the speed for SONY08D1.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

Just to be shure, you did press the 'Set Speed' button and have checked that reloading the saved binary shows the changed speed settings ?
One thing you could try is to rename the media code SONY08D1 to SONYX8D1 so the original media code is not available anymore and then rename a code allowing 12x burning, e.g. SONY16D1, to SONY08D1. This strategy change will allow you to use 12x and 16x write speed, but you should only try 12x.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

16x seams to me a bit too much
Could you do me the favour to try out if the speed table is aligned correctly ? Reduce SONY08D1 to 4x only and check if this new limit gets accepted. If this fails, set MBI 03RG40 to 4x and try again. You do not need to burn a DVD, just check the available speeds.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

If you still could get 16x, you tried that with the renamed version and not with the original firmware. In the renamed version you have to change the code that is behind SONY16D1 on the -R media code table. So please try again with DAXON008S.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

I have the Samsung TS-552B, firmware TS04 (have tried TS06 aswell).
I bought these PRINCO DVD-R 1-4X DVDS (white discs), and my samsung only accepts writing at 2X. Using DVD-identifier it says up to 4X, but INFO line from my burner says only 2X speed. I opend MSCE and loaded the TS04 bios binary, looked up PRINCO and it says 2X, 4X. I added 6X, pressed SET speed, saved bios and flashed my burner. Still only 2X burning speed. I renamed PRINCO to PRANCO and used DVD-identifier and copied the information to the clipboard, used paste in MSCE, added 6X and saved the bios, flashed the burner, but still only 2X!.... what do I do wrong? How can I get my Samsung to accept that I indeed have 4X DVD-R discs... Burning at 2X is not that great .

Thanks in advance, Peter

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

you could do what i tried.
load your firmware, rename princo to anything.
select the other princo (PRINCO8X02) and rename this to princo.
press set, save and see what happens.
good luck.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

Cool tool! Once I get all the media I'm waiting on and get things situated I'll have to try some of this myself. I'm not going to screw up my RicohJPNR01's as they burn awesomely.

Here's a question - If I want to keep RicohJPNR01@RicohJPNR01 but want OptodiscOR4@RicohJPNR01 is that possible at all?

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

Not in this released version, but soon
If you have a good batch of RICOHJPNR01, you could do RICOHJPNR01@RICOHJPNR02 and OptodiscOR4@RICOHJPNR01 in the mean time.

The Cyberhome DX162D is only supported when you know how to extract, un/compress the binary, update the checksum and flash this binary

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for MediaTek-based DVD-Writers

Welcome
Next release supports ARTEC VOM-12E48X 100A and 100D.
Your postcount is one, so here are some warnings: Keep in mind that using unofficial firmware voids your warranty. This drives quality seams to be quite low, so do not expect wonders. You will be the first who uses MCSE on this firmware. I know nothing about this drive. I would guess it uses a mediatek chipset as the media code tables look like the Liteon tables. I do not know if the firmware calculates checksums over the firmware binary, so I do not known if a simple patch will crash your drive. If the drive really used a mediatek chipset, chances are high that it could be recovered with mtkflash.
The risk on using a patched firmware is on your own.
