www.cdfreaks.com is also down, so this seams to be a general problem.
You can use my mirror in the mean time, follow the mirror links for the download.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for DVD-Writers

Hi ala42,
How can I change the write speed of Samsung firmware since it is locked in your new versions?
Another question is that why some discs' speeds to be chosen when recording differs from those displayed in firmware. For example, to YUDEN000T02, 2.4X can be chosen, but does not exsit in the list of US06 by your tool.

You have to change the write strategy to a faster media by doubleclicking the media name. This will remove support for the faster media on Samsung firmwares.

This can have several causes:
- Samsung likes the change the structure of the speed table quite often, so the displayed speed might not be correct for some entries.
- The firmware might add slow speeds like 2.4x to 8x media even when it is not specified in the speed table. Benq firmwares behave in this way.
- They might have two speed tables which do not have the same speed settings.
This display problem does not matter if you swap the write strategy.

thx a lot and another two questions!

I want to change A, and I select B's strategy to replace A's, finally I get two A in my firmware. Does it matter ? Shall I change the old A's name to C?
Will any problem causes when recording and speed selecting?

Sometimes DVD IDENTIFIER give me two different strategies, one for "Get performance", one for "MODE SENSE", which should I believe?

Are you shure the names are identical ? After double clicking, MCSE does an auto rename of the names. B becomes B with an 'x' character at the end, A becomes B.

Believe your burning software if you are in doubt.

You can try use "AN32" to replace "AN31", then two "AN31" meet!

Copying a strategy under a new name makes no sense at all. You can already rename one MID you do not need to anything you want using MCSE and then use Omnipatcher to map it to any strategy you want.
Yes it does make sense Take this example:

I have some ProdiscR03 discs, which burn great with ProdiscR03 strategy. I also have some InfodiscR20 discs, which ALSO burn great with ProdiscR03 strategy.. BUT, if I burn some Infodiscs using Prodisc strategy, then LiteOn "learns" some stuff on that strategy, and the original Prodiscs no longer burn great using it. So now if I could make a copy of ProdiscR03 strategy, change it's name to InfodiscR20 - I would solve the problem..

This is a bug introduced in V 1.0.4.15, occuring when swapping -R media when no lossless swapping is available.
As a workaround you can rename the MIDs manually or use V 1.0.4.14.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for DVD-Writers

@ala42

I tried swapping MAXELL 002 with the 003 write strategy in my TS-H552U with US06 fw. CD Speed and DVD Identifier both shows only a 2.4X speed. What went wrong? I was able to swap the MXL RG03 to RG04 and the SONY 08D1 to 16D1 without problems.

Do you have the same problem with other +R media swapped to a 16x media ?

Yes. I just checked by swapping a number of +R to a higher writing strategy and they all showed a singular write speed of 2.4X. The media that I tried: MCC002 to 003, SONYD11 to D21, CMC MAG E01 to M01.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for DVD-Writers

TO ala42,

Can you support CH04 firmware of TS-H552U for Chinese Samsung users? It differs much from US0X series. Great appreciations, and I attach it's address below:

When I remember right is also differs much in the table structure, but I have to check that again.

As I already said (probably in this thread somewhere), copying a strategy in Liteon firmwares is no fun at all and it is not maintainable. So if your problem is that you want to map several media to the same strat and the learning function causes problems because all these media try to change the same values, the solution was to disable the learning function, which is already on C0dekings todo list.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for DVD-Writers

why does it have to be maintanable..?

isn't it enough to just copy all the bytes from one strategy to the other, or are they laid out and different places or smth?
