At the moment, I only want to change the write strategy for the Skc Co., Ltd to the Sony08D1. I do this using the tool and it appears to change it. I save it as the new firmware and apply it, but when i try to burn something using Nero, it still only shows 4X. None of the other speeds are shown.
This problem with 4x -R media is described in the MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers thread. Take B7T9.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for DVD-Writers

Now guess why... Right, it is not supported yet . The 1640 firmware differs in several points from the 1620 firmwares, so this will take some time.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool for DVD-Writers

MCSE identifies the firmware by the model name and revision, so that is not really a surprise. I will add it when I am home again.

The LG 4082 uses a different chipset than the LG 41xx and uses a different scrambling, that I currently do not know. I already have the Benq 1640, LG 4120/4160, better strategy swapping for the LG 41xx and some other, more interesting stuff on my todo list, so I doubt that I will support it.

MCSE will not have lossless strategy swapping for Liteon drives because it is already implemented in Omnipatcher. C0deKing and Code65536 spend a lot of time to patch the table scanners on every Liteon firmware available.
Copying a strategy under a new name makes no sense at all. You can already rename one MID you do not need to anything you want using MCSE and then use Omnipatcher to map it to any strategy you want.
