The Drive(AKA Model MD-16XDVD9A4) stopped reading CDs- It can read DVDs fine, but it does not recongize CDs.
It started about 4 days ago, and when it didn't work I installed the drivers for it.
Surprise surprise, that didn't work ether.
I can't contact Mad Dog, because I don't have the UPC code that's required to regester, which is required for tech support... >_<

Now, I'm a total noob when it comes to stuff like this, so any help is appreciated. XD

There is a separate laser for CD and DVD. Your problem is common when one fails. I would email them with your problem and give them the serial.

I'm afraid that Mad Dog cannot help anyone who isn't registered, and regestration required a UPC code- which is on the box I threw away. >_<

First, what kind of CD-R's? New, burned or what.
What firmware are you on right now.

You can check if your CD laser is dead by inserting a windoze xp installation disc in drive and restart. When drive can read CD's you should be able to see start of installation process.
All this ofcourse when you enable boot from CD/DVD drive in bios.

Well, neither my Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne/Reign of Chaos disks works, nor my burnt cd with my backup files for my art project.

I have firmware v 1.F2. The CDs didn't work on v1.F0 or 1.F2.
Finally: No, the CD Drive can't boot the Windows XP disk at startup, when I changed the BIOS boot priorities to "1.CDROM 2.HD DRIVE", it couldn't boot from the disk

Sounds like the drive needs to be replaced. Do you still have your receipt? The UPC code is on the receipt a lot of the time. If not, they'll still replace it for you as long as you can provide them with a copy of it. I'd give them a call.
