List of bitsetting supported drives?

I'm looking to get <$70 US DVD recorder that will allow me to do bitsetting on DVD+R media in latest Nero.

Any info?

thanks

BenQ DW800a, DW822a... definitely qualifies
the DW1620 should qualify pricewise, definitely supports bitsetting.

LG GSA-4120B and GSA-4163B
All BenQ drives
All Philips drives
Most HP drives
Most or all Lite-On drives (perhaps all)

In other words, most DVD+R/+RW PC drives and standalone recorders support bitsetting. Most are under US$70.

Re: List of bitsetting supported drives?

IMO, for DVD+R and bitsetting you can't do better than BENQ.

New Egg has an OEM version of the BenQ 1620 for $64.99 plus shipping. BenQ 1620 supports Bittsetting.

What about NEC 2500A? I know it doesn't support it out of box, but is there a firmware flash that makes it support it?

I think the Pioneer 108 also supports bitsetting now (but not out of the box)

Re: List of bitsetting supported drives?

Pioneer has an OEM brand called PioData which sells a version of the DVR-108 that sets the booktype of all DVD+R and DVD+R DL discs to DVD-ROM. Standard Pioneer DVR-108's can be flashed with the PioData firmware to gain bitsetting on DVD+R discs. Standard DVR-108's from Pioneer do set the booktype of DVD+R DL discs to DVD-ROM already...

You could flash the latest MadDog 2510 firmware which wouldn't give you only bitsetting, but also allows writing to double layer discs.
