CD and DVD Burners Discuss, HP DVD Writer dvd530i at International Chat: Hardware related forum; http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/pr...4/040720b.html Is this drive the same as the 520i? If it's a NEC, it sure looks like a 2510A to me, which are what 520i are supposed to be no? Unless 520i = OEM and 530i = Retail?

Re: HP DVD Writer dvd530i

No the DVD530i looks like a Lite-On. The product specs are available here and there is a small picture of it too:

I don't think HP will release the dvd520i now so if you're waiting for a HP firmware update with full bitsetting support for the ND-2510A I think you'll have to wait a very long time...

The HP DVD Writer 520n is a real drive, but I have only heard of it coming directly from the NEC factory in Malaysia.

Re: HP DVD Writer dvd530i

Hello,
I just got a HP 530i (actually it says 530ri) as my DRU-500 crapped out.

Is there something I can run to see what type of drive this is? If it is a lite-ion, could I use omni patcher on it?

Re: HP DVD Writer dvd530i

The best information that you can provide is the Show Summary information for the drive from DISCInfo. I am very interested to know more about the 530i
