How to use Multisession??

Hello I'm new here, I hope I could find some help
I heard that if you have an only readable disc like DVD+R (which I have), we can rewrite the data that's in it if we enabled multisession!!!
I have a DL DVD+R with multisession enabled, the problem is that I was burning a 14 episode series into the DVD (8 giga)

I don't wanna thraw my DVDs away cuz I have so many DVD+R that were aborted during the burning, is there anyway that I could resume??
yah, and me having the burning process stopped everytime is ANOTHER problem that I wanna discuss

Re: How to use Multisession??

@ A-M-J,

Welcome to the Forum.

Before proceeding it would be prudent to provide Full Detailed Complete Information on Exactly how you are attempting to Write/Burn your DVD Video data that is causing you to experience “the Burning Process Stopped Everytime” problem. Until you provide this pertinent information Any effective troubleshooting efforts is only conjecture.

Concerning the use of DL DVD Media. As of this time/date the only DL DVD Media that consistently produces quality error free results is Verbatim DL MK001/MKM003 Mitsubishi Kagaku Media. ALL other DL DVD Media is considered suspect and should be avoided (not used).

Unfortunately once you begin Writing/Burning Media and the Writing/Burning is aborted/terminated the particular Media Disk is now ‘used’ and cannot be attempted to be used again.

It appears your knowledge of a Multisession DVD is somewhat sketchy. Below are a couple of Google Search (http://www.google.com) ‘hits’ on the topic of ‘Multisession DVD’ ->

Re: How to use Multisession??

thanx bjkg for your answer
what I understand now is that there is no use for my DVDs now, right?
and I didn't understand what's the cause of the continuing burning aborts, could you put it in simple words please
P.S : I would like to know what's the info that you need about my burning process, I'd be happy to tell you if that helps

For Starters ->

The Name(s) and Version Number(s) of the software program(s) you are attempting to use to record your DVD Video.

Any Error Notification Narrative(s) and Error Code(s) the software program(s) you are attempting to use to record DVD Video is displaying during a failed Burn.

The Manufacture Name/Model Number/Firmware Version of your DVD Recorder.

The DVD Media MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) (Example; TYG02) of the DVD Media Disk(s) you are attempting to use to record your DVD Video. To obtain the DVD Media MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) and Manufacture Name/Model Number/Firmware Version of your DVD Recorder suggest using DVDInfo (http://www.dvdinfopro.com).

A full detailed complete through explanation on the exact procedures you are attempting to use to Write/Burn your DVD Video.

Until you provided all the above information and any other pertinent notable amplifying information it is virtually impossible to be able to know what is causing your problem.

As previously stated in posting #2 the DVDs you have attempted to use and the Writing/Burning is aborted/terminated the particular Media Disk is now ‘used’ and cannot be attempted to be used again. The DVD disk is now unusable (needs to be thrown away).

bjkg

Re: How to use Multisession??

ok, here it is..
I use an external drive to burn my DVDs, it's "IMATION DVD+-RW external burner 12xDVD-RAM".
Model: IMW18DL88RAME-198

I use 8/4 GIGA DVDs+R IMATION brand.

The software I have is Nero 7.
I didn't recieve any error codes, just the message "burning process cannot be completed".

I hope I didn't forget anything important!!
thanx again for your help

Re: How to use Multisession??

@ A-M-J,

Provide an N e r o Log of a failed Burning attempt. If you have Nero Logging enabled the Nero Log should be located at “C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Nerohistory.Log”

You neglected to provide the requested DVD Media MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) (Example; TYG02) of the DVD Media Disk(s) you are attempting to use to record your DVD Video. Historically Imation Branded Media is noted for problematic poor quality performance.

It is suggested to use known proven quality error free Media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim SL Media which consistently provides quality error free results. Concerning DL Media refer to posting #2 and note the comments concerning the use of Verbatim DL Media.

The use of the known poor quality problematic Imation branded Media could be the cause of your problem but without the DVD Media MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) (Example; TYG02) of the DVD Media Disk(s) you are attempting to use to record your DVD Video it is difficult to know for sure if that is in fact the cause of your problem.

By providing a Nero Log of a failed Burning attempt and the DVD Media MID a more definitive probable cause of your problem can be provided.

Also suggest visiting the Imation Support & Download Web Site and ensure your DVD Burner has the newest most current up to date Firmware ->

Re: How to use Multisession??

Sorry but I can't find the MID?
and as for the error number, I unstalled Nero from my computer because I thought the problem was from it! therefor the Nerologin file was deleted

ok, thanx bjkg for your help anyway

Re: How to use Multisession??

@ A-M-J,

Using DVDInfo (http://www.dvdinfopro.com) insert the DVD Media that you are using in your failed Burning attempts in your DVD Burner and on the DVDInfo top Menu bar click on the ‘Info’ icon located top left of the Menu bar. A Media Information page is displayed and on the second line of the Media Information page ‘MediaCode/Manufacture ID’ information is displayed. The ‘MediaCode/Manufacture ID’ information is referred to as Media MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code).

Simply re-install N e r o and in N e r o ensure you have N e r o Logging enabled and attempt to Burn your DVD Video. Then provide the N e r o Log of your Burning attempt. Only the particular specific N e r o Logs of a failed Burning attempt is required for analyst.

bjkg

Sorry to disturb you, but this info is wrong.
DVD+R is a WORM media, that means you could ADD date when using multisession, you cannot rewrite to it like with RW media.

About the "aborted burned media": Sadly you cannot use them anymore because you must start burning with multisession mode to make use of multisession mode...
