Burner software doesn't recognise DVD burner

Tried with Nero 6 first of all, now with CopytoDVD, the software doesn't recognise my Toshiba SD-R5002 drive as a DVD burner, only as a DVD-ROM drive. When trying with CopytoDVD, it claims there is no valid media in the drive when I have brand new DVD-R disks in the drive. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks so much,
Aston

Have you updated to the latest versions of all of those software packages?

Try using Nero 5.5. You can download the "update" version for it on the Nero web site, and it should function as a demo. I checked, and it should support your drive.

Thanks - I might do that. Going to Nero 6 I think has been a mistake. It has proved very unstable...crashes often when I am compiling the CD/DVD to burn and tech support has been none existent but that's another issue. I'll try out 5.5 and see what happens.
Cheers
