Win XP supports native Multi-Session CD burning - Will Vista support both CD and DVD?

I understand that Windows XP's native drag and drop burn to CD thing is full-on multi-session for data files.

Given how cheap media is, I no longer use multi-session for CD's personally, but know many folks who still do.

My question is, will Vista natively support multi-session for data CD's only or will it enhance the feature to provide for multi-session data DVD's as well?

Thanks

I doubt it - multisession on DVD is just too unreliable to include in a new OS and IIRC there's no standard for reading the discs.

Odd that they would work all that out for CD's but not for DVD's...

Unfortunately there wasn't the same type of standards setting for DVDs...

Hopefully Vista will have the promised Mount Ranier native support for those drives with hardware capability, which I guess would leave virtually no role for multisession. Of course it means that you're limited to DVD+RW, but as these are the type of discs best suited to multisession anyway, it sounds like a fair swap.

It's all a confusing mess, really.

With single layer media prices being so cheap, it's almost not worth the effort. I can take a disk that is closed but not 100% full, copy it back to my hard drive, add the new files to that folder setup and burn a fresh -R or +R and it only costs me 30 cents. Then I just discard the original disk.
