I'm having problems burning dvd's. I'm using nero, and when I start to burn a DVD -R disc it seems to be working, but stops after a few seconds and displays the message: "disc changed". I would be really greatfull for any help I can get, 'cause I'm starting to get frustrated.

Try another program. Or another brand of discs ;-) does anything get actually written on the discs?

No. Nothing gets burned at all on the disc, I've tried one other program, but that did, help either. And the brand I'm using is sony, and it seemes to me a bit strange that those discs shouldn't work.

never mind, that both burner and discs are sony. it wouldn't be the first time that device and media of the same brand are not absolutely compatible... :-)
I haven't tried that devices, so I can't really say for sure. I can confirm that dvd burning is rather frustrating, though :-/

But I borrowed a nec burner before I got this one, and that one handled it quite well... not with the same discs though, but still...
anyway... I'll try some other brands of discs and see where it leads to.... thanks a lot for the tips and the effort
