Please Check Nero Tool Tips !!!

The Nero installation CD as well as the ahead software website (nero.com) has a Tool Tips program which you must read. You can easily browse this in IE.

Many issues with Nero are with rogue .VXDs and .DLLs - believe me!

You should also read the "Down & Dirty" guide about CloneCD, because the hardware and software issues are fundamentally the same - burning proggys require loving attention!

All burning proggys have issues - do not despair - the problems lay elsewhere and we can help you find them.

Also, there are already some great threads about this great piece of software - please use the search function

Nero can and will backup protected game titles on CD. You have to select the right settings and have the right gear. I have tested Nero on LaserLock, ProtectCD, SecuROM and SafeDisc. Reading times can be a pain but Nero is a pre-masterer after all rather than a specialist replicator. If Nero's all you've got then you just need an appropriate reader/writer. You still need an SD2 killer burner with Nero as it does not have an "Amplify Weak Sector" function like CloneCD, Blindwrite and CD-Mate

Have Fun and we'll certainly find an answer to your problem.

Please State Your Application Name In The Post Heading

  • This forum now serves all burning and related/supporting apps!
  • CloneCD related posts will be moved to the CloneCD Forum
  • PLEASE STATE YOUR APPLICATION NAME IN THE POST HEADING, that way, the appropriate Admins/Mods and interested members can home in on the topic and begin to prepare an answer for you
EXAMPLE HEADINGS:

Nero - Image Drive will not run

Blindwrite - which 'ASPI' do I use?

CD Mate - Isn't this just like Fantom CD? WTF?!

Fantom CD - Isn't this just like CD Mate? WTF?!

CDRWin - Locks up when I start it!

FireBurner - My drive seems to be unsupported

DiscJuggler - help with error settings please

Daemon Tools - Problem mounting .cue

DiscDump - Do I need the synch setting?

NTI?! WTF is that?!

WinOnCD - will not boot after installing

InstantCD/DVD - Windows locks up after installing virtual drive

Feurio! - can't detect my drive

Primo - Something about Filter Drivers...

Roxio Easy CD Creator - why do I get coasters all the time?

There are more apps but you get the idea

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Before you post – WE NEED THIS BASIC DETAIL

1. The Operating system – which is it (eg. Win 98SE – or – Win XP Pro – or – Win XP Home, etc.) Fixing problems differ in each Operating System so this is very important.
2. The hardware – Brand Name and Model of CD-RW and any other CD’s on the System. It also helps to know on which IDE channel the device is.
3. The Software you are using and version number. MOST IMPORTANT – Also state if you have other software for the CD-RW installed, eg. I have Nero v5.5.10.0 and Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 installed.
4. Clearly state (describe) the problem to the best of your ability.
5. A basic description of your PC system never goes astray; it helps to understand the problem and diagnostic approach to fixing the bug.

All too true but the problem is that, unfortunately, no-one ever reads this thread. FutureProof posted it as a sticky more than 7 months ago and it has only had 600 views.

"Sticky" as such is a bad choice for what should be a "POSTING RULE" for and heading each forum.

Try "NEW POSTING RULES" or "Important: Before posting a question " in red bold instead of 'sticky'
Then keep it simple - cause I'm stupid.

Slipstream WinXP SP2 and Nero 6's 'missing' options

Hi Anyone,

I have spent about two days trying to discover what version of Nero 6 Burning ROM has the options I need to make a bootable WinXP Slipstreamed SP2 CD. I have worked around PCs about 20 years... but this exercise sucks!

I appreciate (NOT) how software instructions and facilities are designed from "inward thinking perspectives" mostly forgetting how 'average to reasonable' users actually think. I have variously and repeatedly followed "expert" instructions from users claiming to have done the same, but the Nero 6 options described are simply not available despite downloading Nero 6's supposedly "full featured demo" download version 6.6.0.15". I searched "Nero" "OEM v. retail" to see if there are major differences between their products – to no avail.

I'm trying to follow instructions - see http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...slipstream.asp - but "Step 5a" DOES NOT EXIST within the so called "full featured version" of Nero 6's trial download.

I’m running a fresh installation of WinXP SP1 on a P4 with a reliable late model Gigabyte motherboard - this is not a hardware or error message issue. It's more like, "where are the Nero 6 screen options please?"

Do I have to navigate to these “published options” (see address above) via WinXP's Start/ All Programs/ Nero/ Nero 6 Demo/ Nero Burning ROM/ (to) What would you like to burn?/ Data/ Bootable Data Disc. Nero Express/ Disc Content/ Add data to you disc. Then click on ‘Next’ to add the boot image from a bootable floppy disc. (and why just floppy these days?) Click Add. Select all files in the prepared (integrated WinXP+SP2) folder c:\xp. A new Nero Express screen appears asking you to Select Boot Image…"
OR do I go via: "Disc Image or Saved Project/ Record a disc from disc image previously burned onto the hard drive." Where are the Nero 6 options as described in the web site article? Why are Bootable CD and the follow on processes and on screen options so different? This issue is excruciating.
Why would anyone want to purchase a “full featured” working version of Ahead's Nero 6 Burning ROM (whatever they call it) when the “full featured trial version” presents such confusing anomalies?

I just want to create a bootable "slipstream" WinXP SP2 CD - with as many included patches and bug fixes as will fit on the thing.

Best regards, Ranger (Newbie)

Re: Please State Your Application Name In The Post Heading

G'Day Folks,

This "Read first: Please State Your Application Name In The Post Heading
FutureProof, CD and DVD Burning Software " is clearly a note to everyone reminding you of what to include with your posts - BUT THAT'S ALL IT IS

You do NOT post your problems here if you want an answer !!

You need to look at the other Topics and Threads that relate to your problem and then post your question(s) there.

Got the picture
