does anyone here have any idea why image file would not be the exact same size as the source?

i have done this with ecdc for over a year and i was always the same size. the same for plextools same size.

i can't understand why the image would go from lets say a 650mb audio disc but when an image is made of it thru nero it ends up about a 720mb image file?

help

CD-Audio sectors have more bytes (with "information") than data CDRs (data CDs need space for error correction).
That's why data CDs are easier to read: one more error correction layer.

So, in a 650MB CDR there's space for more "data music" than 650MB.
For instance, 750MB audio = 70minutes 50seconds.

You only have to see the minutes. Forget about data capacity in audio CDs.

Maybe there are more things apart from audio, hidden data tracks, CD-Extra...
maybe it's protected... dummy files...

I don't know with Nero, but Feurio or EAC will show the exact structure of CDR.
If it's a CD-Extra (audio+data), I think that Nero only shows audio tracks...

Why the image is bigger than it should?
I have no idea. It never happened to me...

no these are discs i have copied in the past. i wouldn't miss that stuff

ok i just got it to work but by choosing my plextor and not the "image recorder".

what the heck is the image recoder for if not to be used to make an image to save or use?

anytime i use image recoder it will not allow me to burn it to disc saying not enough space on cdr disc for image to go?

thanx again

I don't know... that's why I say that Nero is ugly and has a confusing interface.
There should be a button "Make an image" and another button "Burn an image" (there's one like the later), but...

Now, it seems that it's buggy in addition to confusing...
