i have been trying to copy LORD OF THE RINGS without any luck... is this game another user of securom new or what. i have a 48x lite-on that since the release of unreal tournament 2003 seems worth-less. some one help

use Yates to scan the disc, availbale from http://www.reverse-engineering.info/...ot_Version.EXE
it will detect Safedisc and Securom and tell you what version.

P.S when you find out what it is protected with could you post it here with the version number.

My understanding is that this game is yet another one with the latest securom protection and, as such, isn't copiable at present.

PC games and PS2 games have totally different types of copy protection.
not sure exactly what they use to protected PS2 games, or even what they use to protect any consoles games like Xbox or Gamecube.
you can however make backups of PS2 games, the exact method i do not know, just remember you still have to have a mod-chip installed into your PS2 to play the backups.
best thing to do is search through the forums here about PS2 backups, or search on google.com about making PS2 backups.
