dvd9 to dvd9 dual layered burn problem - Club CDFreaks

I'm making a dvd9 movie backup copy. using the most current programs, dvdfab, fixvts, and imgburn. using Verbatim dL+R disks. ripped the dvd w/ dvdfab. ran fixvts. then ran imgburn. made sure it was set to dvd-rom for booktype. made sure i had iso9660 + UDF. was in build mode. when breaking the files, i had three choices. two gray stars and one yellow. I clicked on the yellow star. burn setting at 4x mode. tried 2.4x earlier. made sure i had iso9660 + UDF. made my labels. after the burn, the computer plays the movie. Took it out and tried to play it on my dvd player in the living room. It won't read the disk. Dvd player states, "Reading," but nothing else happens. my dvd player is a bose product, only 2 years old. looked at the bose manual and it states it reads dvd-r,dvd-rw, and dvd-rom.

my dvd dl burner is a lite-on. just bought it from newegg. had great reviews. should i try different media? any suggestions? appreciate it. here's my imgburn log.

Sounds to me like you used a good method for copying the disk. Your player may be really picky about burned media though.

Vebatim is the best DL available. Are yours made in India or Singapore? The Indian made Verbatim DL seems to be less consistent in quality.

Have you tried the disk in another player? If you only have the one dvd player, I'd check it in a friend's dvd player to see how it works there before wasting any more expensive media.

yep tried a sanyo dvd player and then my playstation 2 dvd player. neither worked. my wife was going to test her dvd player at work. don't know where the disks were made. at work right now.

this is the burner that i'm using LITE-ON 2-Tone USB 2.0 EZ DUB External 20X DVD±R Burner Model DX-20A4PU-06. i noticed on lite-on website, it has a BookType / Bitsetting Utility for it's product: http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?...per&Itemid=152. little outdated, since 2005. don't think i need it since imgburn can set the booktype, correct?

Also, why are you running fixvts if you are copying from an original source which should really not cause any messups which would need to be repaired?

As Kerry stated, perhaps your player is picky,especially about DL burns...But are you using the free DVDFab or Platinum? try Clone mode for DL backups...Also try backing up and saving as iso, and then use IMGburn in "write mode.....you never know,it may help....
You shouldn't need iso ,but just try it anyway....As far as fixVTS ,if it's not needed don't use it. Open your backup with DVDShrink before you burn,and analyze, if no errors then you should be good to go...

well i finally made peace. i tried 3 different dvd players. 1 was my bose piece of crap lifestyle dvd theater system and the other two were older models. none of the 3 worked with my disk. then i went to my wife's work place and it worked

after burning 7 fricken dual layer disks, i'm ready to kill my crappy bose system. i recommend not buying a lifestlye dvd player from bose. Nothing but junk. Audio and speakers are nice but the rest is JUNK.

now i need a new dvd player. question, will a playstation 3 play these burned copies of dual layer media. Has anybody tried? i would try but i don't know anyone who has a playstation3. was thinking about purchasing one here shortly since i'm a gamer. just been waiting for the price to go down a little bit. But GTA 4 has caught my eye and this dual layer issue may speed my purchasing thoughts up. any thoughts?

Has anybody tried? i would try but i don't know anyone who has a playstation3. was thinking about purchasing one here shortly since i'm a gamer. just been waiting for the price to go down a little bit. But GTA 4 has caught my eye and this dual layer issue may speed my purchasing thoughts up. any thoughts? thanks a million
