| Caching audio tracks with Nero causes long idle time I have been using Nero since a lot of time ago. And every time a new version is released I download it and update my software. But since v5.5.8.2 I've been installing and uninstalling newer versions. The problem comes up when I select some audio tracks from an inserted CD in my other drive, and with every version after 5.5.8.2, it takes a looooong frustrating idle time (about 15 secs) before it starts caching the track. It's annoying!!!! I swear, I've tried every version after 5.5.8.2 and all of them gives me this problem. So every time I install a new version, I have to uninstall it and install 5.5.8.2 again so it works great again (if I install 5.5.8.2 over newer ones, the problem remains, even overwriting every file). At the beginning I thought the problem could be the CD-ROM drive, which used to be a Creative CD5233E, which works great. A few weeks ago I bought a Lite-On DVD-ROM LTD-163, and the problem is still there. Please, if someone has had this problem, tell me what can I do. Cause I want to update my Nero version but I don't want those annoying 15 idle seconds before every track. My system specs: PIII 800MHz 256MB PC133 RAM Windows XP Professional w/ SP1 Nero 5.5.8.2 CloneCD 4.2.0.2 Lite-On DVD-ROM LTD-163 @ ATA-33 (UDMA-2) HP CD-Writer 9100+ ATA-33 (UDMA-2) HDD Fujitsu MPF3204AT 20GB @ ATA66 (UDMA-4)

Do you mean before burning? Disable caching tracks... Or while burning between tracks? Burn in DAO mode instead of TAO. | |

| Yes, I mean before burning. I need Nero to cache tracks before burning cause I make CDs with tracks from different discs, burning with DAO. I have to burn with DAO in order to add CDTEXT. And since DAO does not turn off the laser, I could not change discs in the middle of the burning, also Nero wouldn't allow it.

| I don't use Nero for audio so I don't understand very well what is the problem... The strategy for burning audio is to rip all the tracks you want to harddisk (menu: Recorder -> Save Track) and project and then burn in DAO. Why don't you disable "Cache the track on harddisk before burning" in the compilation properties? There's no need to cache the tracks if you already have them in harddisk. What strategy are you using? The normal thing is to use the default (or Tempfile strategy)... |
