Audio Cd Ripping software advice

I have some bad CD's that have gotten damaged from extensive use. This means the cd's now have some pops, ect in it. I wish to rip these audio cd's and burn them to new cd's. I need a software that can rip/recover these tracks to mp3 so that I can than burn them with all the track data.

I have tried some regular cd recovery software but it will only recover them as wav files, which means I than lose all the track data and will end up with a burned cd that has file names track 01, track 02, ect.

What software do you recommend?

Most (store bought) audio CDs don't have track data on them. The track data comes from various online sources (CDDB, FREEDB, etc.). If there are no holes in the label you might improve your odds of recovery by polishing the CDs. If you want them in MP3 try CDex or EAC. Both have pretty good error recovery.

Re: Audio Cd Ripping software advice

A lot of it will depend on your ripping drive as well, error correction-wise.

When I rip with my NEC 4551A with CDex (my chosen ripping program), I always get errors, though it's a fast ripper.

Ripping with my LiteOn produces error-free mp3s.

CDex (my preference) or EAC are good rippers as mentioned.

I think if you rip them to flac format then Burrrn will be able to pick up tag info, write the CD-Text & you'll suffer no loss of quality. Have a read here .

If you have Roxio9 it has a tag editor program. I used all the time if the CD I ripped have no track info. You don't need to type the tracks one by one it will do the entire CD for you once it find a match from the database.

Well EAC did the job quite well. Sound came out quite good for a CD with a damaged label with small holes worn through it.. The CD was really old dated back in '93.
