Re: alternative for Nero Some folks have no trouble at all with Nero, others have all kinds of problems. I myself had some rather minor compatibility issues with other burning progs, along with the rare inexplicable burn failure or two. Just enough for me to mistrust Nero. Since RecordNow came bundled with my (rebadged) BenQ 1620, I uninstalled Nero with no regrets. For video, I now use nothing but DVDDecrypter, in conjunction with Image Tool Classic if I need to create an ISO. For data, RecordNow works fine. It should, with the Prassi burning engine. For those looking to purchase a new burning program, I'd look seriously at Prassi ONES. It's cheap, about 20 bucks IIRC, and it uses "fuzzy logic" to recognize drives. So you need not worry about your drive being supported, even it's a spanking new model. JMHO. ![]()

Re: alternative for Nero Try NTI. It's pretty decent, and is easier to use than Nero for many people.. it also looks nicer, I think. They say it works well on Windows XP 64-bit too. http://www.ntius.com/default.asp

Re: alternative for Nero Here are the programs I've tried in the last three months: Nero Burning ROM v6.3, 6.6 - excellent, I still use it. Avoid that "StartSmart" crap tho, the wizard absolutely sucks. Cheetah DVD Burner v1.34 - not very good, lacks many useful options. NTI CD-DVD Maker Titanium v7 - excellent, but I prefer Nero. Comes with a ton of other cool programs too.. Padus DiscJuggler Pro v4.50 - caused lockups, blue screens, many coasters. Wouldn't use again until the next major version. Prassi ONES v2.0.297 - lacks useful options, crashy. Wouldn't use again until next major version. Here're a couple I haven't tried yet, but plan to: Akram Media Creator v1.3 aShampoo Burning Studio v5.05 DeepBurner Pro
