123 Copy DVD fiasco Alright, some fast help would be appreciated because im not to far from putting my fist through a wall. I run Windows XP on a Sony Vaio, which has a DVD+R/+RW/-R/-RW.. So wanting to be able to copy DVDs, i went out and got 123 Copy DVD Plus. I install it, get the updates, and start it up, after I put in a DVD to copy. It doesnt find a source for the DVD, so I go check under My Computer to make sure everythings going alright.. Well, my DVD Drive and my CD Drive no longer are listed. So I go to device manager, and they're listed as Unknowns. This is the main problem that I don't know how to deal with.. So help there would be appreciated. Now, I KNOW that it's their program that accomplished this because I had just used my CD drive moments before in insert and install the 123 Copy DVD CD. So, I go to their website and fill out one of their support forms (they dont have any other contact information, no address or phone number), and being angry, try to find where I can get more contact info. They claim to be a subsidary of Bling Software Ltd. However, a google search shows me that a website for such a company does not exist. Furthermore, they mention in their FAQ the X-OOM site as a place that you might find firmware updates for DVD drives, but it does not link the X-OOM site as it does several other sites. So I googled X-OOM too, and it turned up several online ordering sites with X-OOM products, but no X-OOM site. WTF is going on here? Someone please comfort my soul.

Re: 123 Copy DVD fiasco I had this problem with my computer when i installed a cd burner to a computer that also had a DVD rom, after i installed it and started up my computer (windows XP) it did not reconize either drive and in "My Computer" nither one was listed. My problem was the master/slave/ cable jumper, they were both set to slave and therefor would not work, but you say it worked before so I would think it was a driver conflict with the software. Also check in the options of 123 Copy DVD and see if there is an option to choose your desired drive to use. I am no expert by any means, but just thought i would offer one of my trials and tribulations, and some thoughts. ![]()

Re: 123 Copy DVD fiasco As you may have already figured out, 123 Copy DVD does not support every DVD burner out there. (like my new Sony that I just bought). If your problem is that your DVD drive has disappeared, you probably have uninstalled a Roxio/Creative software like Easy CD Creator or DirectCD. If so, let me know and I can dig up the link to the Microsoft KB article with the fix. JD in Colorado john.daspit@colorado.edu
