Yuden000-T02-000(Sony) Staples

I just got home from Staples with what I beleive is the best media deal out there today. Staples has Sony MIJ (Yuden000-T02-000) for 14.94USD on sale. I had the 3.00 Ink coupons for all the 4 spindles I bought. The final price came out to be 12.66USD per 50 spindle. So I got Taiyo Yuden 8x+ media for about 25.00 per 100 with tax. Now here is the decision I had to make. Office Depot has Verbatim media MCC004 on sale for 14.99 per 50 spindle. Did I want Verbatim for 32.00 per hundred, or did I want Taiyo Yuden for 25.00 per hundred, I think the Sony Tys are the better deal.

Re: Yuden000-T02-000(Sony) Staples

they let you use the coupons all at once?

even if i ask if i can do separate transactions they give me an attitude and say it doesn't work that way...well the one person that seems to ALWAYS be working when I go there does. I end up hitting up staples just about every day throughout the week. It's not a big deal because it's on my way to work, but still...

maybe i'll try to go at night this time and get a bunch at a time.

i took a chance on some MIJ maxell's from office depot last week and i'm not satisfied...the error rates are ok by most standards but far too high when i'm used to TYs. I'll use those for my brother's backups and keep the TYs for myself ::evil laugh::

PS, for my BenQ 1640 (BSMB), TYs are infinitely better than MCC. I definitely agree that those TYs are the better deal...I just got impatient waiting 4 weeks since the last sony sale, I was out of discs, and I was in the mood for something new. stupid maxells...and stupid me for "taking a chance" on a 100 pack.

She let me make separate transactions for each spindle, 12.66 each, I just had to stand in line and make each purchase separately.

What is this 3.00 ink coupon deal? Are you saying that if you bring an empty cartridge, they've give you $3 back?

yes sir. each ink cartridge can be exchanged for a $3 coupon at the register no questions asked. All staples participate in this. I usually bring ink cartridges when I make the purchase, but you can trade all of your cartridges in at the same time and they'll just give you like ten $3 coupons good on anything in the store.

the fine print: one coupon per transaction and they're only good for 90 days (which is why I just bring ink cartridges as I need them)

the best deal going is when stuff is on sale at stores other than staples and you price match it there for an extra 10% off PLUS use the $3 coupon.

The Staples in my town, there are two Staple within 2 miles of my house, have no problem, as long as you make each purchase separately. I have at least 20 Ink coupons from collecting all the emptys at my office, this is the perfect opportunity to use them.

Re: Yuden000-T02-000(Sony) Staples

Just got from BB and took the staples add with me. There is a BB closer but they price matched it. The 100pk from BB on sale I seen are all MIT. But the 50pk was MIJ.
By the way this is in the Dallas Texas area at the BB at Town East Mall

Question about the Staples ink deal: What brand cartidges do they accept? I have a Canon printer. I think it's OM that gives out a free ream of paper with every returned cartridge, but they only take HP.

Thanks!

they take anything.

i've even brought back crappy discount ink website pseudo-canon cartridges that i probably only paid $3 a piece for and they gave me coupons.

although those shitty inks are what led to the downfall of my old printer...so yeah haha

Re: Yuden000-T02-000(Sony) Staples

And another great thing about Staples is that they seem to store their media properly--unlike the Best Buys around here (Temple, TX). The dye sides on all yuden000t02 (whether Fuji 8x DVD+R MIJ or Sony 8x MIJ) are always pristine with no dye spotting (that's easily 290 disks I checked), whereas the Best Buy media was usually stored poorly, as I always noticed bad dye spotting: only 50 out of 200 there were any good.

I think the Sony MIT DVD-R 8x would come up as Sony08D1 (according to this thread). I only know I've never seen any burner (liteon, BenQ, Plextor) ever really write it well--and I must agree on it's relative inferior quality, as I saw PIF totals range from 1200-3700 easily, and when you get steady < 500 PIF totals from the Sony yuden000t02 for the most part (and even <300 PIF totals on super good batches), the Sony 8x MIJ is a no-brainer.

Re: Yuden000-T02-000(Sony) Staples

i just bought the sony+R 8x (2x50 packs) at staples. display was right by the door so i scooped
them up, pulled out my ink cartridges and asked if i could use coupons
together for 2 packs. i was told only 1 per transaction so i said i'll by one and come back in 15 seconds and buy another and she said OK and did both
for me on the spot. as she was ringing it up i realized i forgot to check for MIJ
so a grabbed one and sure enough MIJ. Driving home i was hit with a bad
feeling pulling into the driveway..i only checked one pack..so i openned the bag
and took a look at the other..sure enough MIT. turned around and went back
and became their source of amusement for a few seconds..but they galdly
swapped it for MIJ. real hard to tell MIJ from MIT without looking very closely
at label..beware.
phil
ps. this bargain section sure does save me bucks..thanks to all those that take
the time to post the info. much appreciated.

Thanks for the link. I checked it out, and there's one for 95 cents on one black cartridge and less if you buy in bulk. I didn't find out how much is shipping, but I would think it would add another 30 to 40 cents a piece in shipping depending on how many you purchase. You still come out about $1.60 to $1.70 ahead with the $3 coupon. Since I've been hanging out here in cdfreaks, I can't believe the length I go through to save a buck on media.

Now all you have to do is find 250 movies to backup.
