Would Cdfreaks even be liable under US law?

Most of those ADs come from the "Early Edition" of different newspapers. I would think that if anyone, the newspapers would be liable.

Exactly. What's there to violate if the retailers knowingly commit their advertisement to those early editions? If they don't like it, then they should pull their participation in the early distribution.

Re: Will CD Freaks Still have the weekend ads?

It was news then. As I recall, the stores involved actually apologized when the backlash of bad publicity hit.

Re: Will CD Freaks Still have the weekend ads?

I have contacted the newspaper here about another issue and one of the things I found out was that the stores actually have to pay extra to have the ads put in the early edition. They are well aware that they are being distributed (the newspapers are not taking it apon themselves to release them early). Further, the are not being released prior to distribution when we post (as they have already been distributed, just not in all areas). I think the whole ordeal about making them avalable before distribution is about employees getting the ads early and posting them and its seems to only be an issue on black friday.

the exact reproduction of the ad art work and other materials may be copyrighted and I suppose inforced if the company insisits
however (I don't Think)the info they contain cannot be copyrighted as it is factual
ie sony dvd 50 pack on sale at BB on such and such a date for 50 cents a pack

Re: Will CD Freaks Still have the weekend ads?

I have just recieved Staples and Office Max 3 days in advance about their Sunday December 18 sale specials. Why are we spreading these none sense rumors? I thought we agreed that the posting is dated 2002 and discussion is closed. ripit thanks for the clarification.
