VisionTek XTASY 256MB AGP Video Card with RADEON 9600 XT 3D Chip $89

Outpost.com

Not the newest card, but for those of us needing an upgrade from an older card, or a replacement, this is not a bad price. Had it cheaper about 6 weeks ago with a rebate, but unfortunately/fortunately my Nvidia card did not crap out back then. Has good reviews from when it was new on the market. If you want the lastest and greatest, get a MB with PCI-e, those card prices make it almost worthwhile to get a PCI-e MB and transfer your CPU if you can.

Thats a pretty good price! I wish I had the money for one (need tires, a radiator and brakes right now so I'm gonna be broke). They are 170$ on newegg (the cheapo brand 9600's are about that price). Personally, I think going with a card like this instead of the latest, greatest card out thier gives you a lot more performance for the money.
Does anyone know if this card can be bios modded to a higher model or for that matter, what it's overclock ability is?

Got it installed, about half the fan noise of the Nvidia FX5900 128MB I had previously in the computer (which had the fan fail and overheated to about 120 degrees C per the Evergreen sensor when it started making loud noises and I checked it, even had the alarm set for 90 C in the Nvidia desktop program- did not alarm at all). The top of the Nvidia is now discolored and the fan does not spin- I'm not going to mess with it anymore.
With a Barton 2500, 1 GB ram, Epox KT600 chipset MB, the 3D mark score was 1865 running each game test 3 times and AA set at 4x, no tweaking or overclock with the latest drivers from Visiontek. Will see if I can tweak the settings and get the mark up.
New Egg has a Sapphire OEM for $94 if you prefer Sapphire.

WoW 256 meg, must be a newer version of 9600XT, but this chipset has been obsolete a year ago. Even the 9800 Pro cant compete with the 6600GT and the 6600GT is around $140 shipped.
