CD Freaks Bargain Basement Discuss, TYG02's, are these premium or value line? at International Chat: General Topics forum; I just ordered 100 of these, at a price($29.70 after 10% off code) that beats the sales in stores. Has anyone bought these before? Are they premium or value line? I am tired of verbs that vary from batch to batch and while TYG03's are decent nothing

Re: TYG02's, are these premium or value line?

There is nothing there to indicate that they would be Valueline. The product code is not value and the speed is very specific at 8X and they are white printable which has not show up as Valueline before. Lastly, the price is a little high for Value. Shop4tech has always been clear about value.

https://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?g...a=1&s_cata=286

BTW, most of the variation in Verbatim is due to their being made by both Prodisc and CMC. If you stick with CMC you might find that they are better than the TYG02, at least in the +R variety.

My last 50 pack of +R 16X Verbs, the 1st 20 burned great, then they went downhill, tried them in 2 different burners and at different speeds, had the same problem with the -R's, 1 spindel was as good as it gets, the next spindle I had to return. I am done with verbs MIT.

Re: TYG02's, are these premium or value line?

Yo-

I use both the 8x -R TYG02's and the 8x +R T02's and find that the T02's burn better than the TYG02's in all my burners shown below-

Also - the 16x +R Verbatim MCC04's burned at 8x in my LiteOn 160P6s and LG 4167 and 12x in my BenQ 1640 are equally as good as the TY T02 burns-eh!

(the MCC04's are CMC "PAPA's")

I have a 1635s and a 165h6s, both with current firmware, it is not the burner, I have run many tests and it is the dics.

I have also had less than great burns with my MCC 004 discs and my Liteons. I use them on Pioneer, LG, older NEC drives, and BenQ. At least you can get TY.

Funny thing is, my 1st 20 discs of the mcc's were as good as any burns I ever had with my 1635, then down they went with no change to anything on my drive.
I am done looking for sales and searching for good media, I will stick with TY from now on, I did get good results with 16X maxell -r's but they are hard to find and expensive.

Re: TYG02's, are these premium or value line?

These are the same ones I got a few weeks ago. They apear to be premium
and burn VERY well at 12x with my BenQ.

I'm sure you will be happy with them.

You probably got a spindle from the end of the stamper. I would not stop buying Verbs because of one bad spindle that you got your money back back (you said you returned them) I have had some poor quality Taiyo Yuden spindles but I won't stop using them.

Re: TYG02's, are these premium or value line?

YOu guys are lucky. I have never had great burns with MCC004. (BenQ 1640 BSLB). All mine (probably 1000 burned so far) have yielded good but not great results at 12x. (PIE 20k range, PIF 400-700).

Valueline TY02's i have gotten have been MUCH better than the MCC004's. Even my valueline TY03's which some have said isn't very good have yielded similar numbers to MCC004.

So for me at least, Im buying nothing but valueline TY from shop4tech. --$26.20 shipped after 10% is a great deal. You can't get MCC004 for that price. They usually go for 14.99 for 50.

Just to clarify, TYG02 can be value line. Value line can be TYG01, TYG02 or TYG03. The only identifying characteristic, after you get them out of the tape wrap, is the double overstrike in the very center hub where the clear serial number is stamped. Most of the current value line seems to be TYG03 which I won't use. This make paying more to get genuine TYG02 a better deal, although I am not really a fan or TYG02 either. The only exception was my perfect scan on an LG 4163 burned at 4X.

Good post, I wasn't clear enough. Meant to say the printables are always TYG02 and not the value line TYG02.
Aside from rima.com these 8x TY printables are the best way to get guaranteed TYG02 media AFAIK.

The official statement from a local TY distributor (a year ago) is that the value line has higher block errors. Most people have seen no real difference. The assumption is that they are slightly below perfect but no one knows for sure.
