well, this is my first try, hope they will be good.

Not a bad deal but I think I am going to avoid value line from now on. The possibility of getting TYG03 and the fact that I am noticing that I am consistantly getting higher PIF totals with the value line discs versus the premium counterparts is enough to convince me to spend the extra cash to buy the premium discs from rima.

Is Supermediastore not as good as Rima ?

I ask this because I told a friend to order me 100 T02 discs and Supermediastore had them with free shipping and total is 38.99$ , 4$ less than Rima

Actually we are talking about shop4tech here but since you brought it up, rima tends to be more reliable in terms of customer service than supermediastore, ect. The deal is that rima doesn't screw around with the value line stuff, so you always know what to expect with them. Sometimes with shop4tech and supermediastore you find yourself questioning whether or not what you are buying is value line or premium. Either way, as a whole I have had good experiences with all 3, I just prefer rima as a whole for the peice of mind.

I'm pretty sure if you order 8x from shop4tech you get 8x.

It was only the 4x value line that people were getting 8x and 16x.

Not true. People are still reporting getting 16x under the 8x value line.

Well the one time I order they were not 8X they were 4x

I asked this because my friend dealt with Supermediastore before and he told me that their ground shipping is fast , I also read here about how great Rima is and I wanted him to buy from them but he just wanted to keep dealing with Supermediastore

If they live up to their pics and description those are indeed premium 8x TY DVD+R.

After my experience with value line TY I'll def stick with other media. The TYG02 I got from Meritline hasn't been to bad, but the TYG03 from Shop4Tech has been pretty much terrible regardless of the burner(1640, 1650, 3540, 3500, Tosh SD-R5372V, Sony DWQ120A and BTC 1016IM all had a shot). By terrible I'm talking half of them in the 3-10k PIF range, the other half 300-1k mainly.

I've also decided to stop buying value line TY.

I've gone through about 3 spindles and all were tyg02. That was lucky considering a friend got some tyg03. Even so, they definitely do not scan nearly as well on average as the regular non value line.

The good stuff is not much more in price and well worth it IMO. In fact I have half a spindle of value line on my shelf which I may end up throwing out. From now on it will be Rima for the good stuff.

You got to be careful not to confuse Matrix and Sonic with value line. While I agree that the value line aren't up to PAR with the regular TY, they certainly aren't in the category with the fakes.

Folks, if Valueline were "just as good as premium," they would call it "premium" and charge "premium" prices.

I don't see where all these posts with scans of Value Line TYG02's being not as good as premium TY, maybe I totally missed all of them.

Maybe I was just lucky but I've used up 3x100 Value line packs and didn't have any
problems at all and my scans of TYG02 on this forum are from those dvd's.

True if you don't know for sure your getting 8x I wouldn't buy them either, though I did months ago and got TYG01's and they burn spectacular at 8x

It's just my personal comparisons. I compare the total number of PIFs that I get with the ones from rima and compare them with the value line discs. I am usually under 300 for total PIFs in the premium but for the value line I am averaging 800-1000. Not saying that they are crap discs, it's just that the error rates are a little high for my tastes.

Nice I got one rotten scan and one decent scan with my new Pioneer 111D. The first one was almost certainly a defective disc though.

Yeah, once again they aren't bad discs but I would much rather have the POM of the premiums.

I am in manufacturing (not discs, though). For whatever reason, TY chooses to condemn lots or a particular run and label them "valueline" perhaps because they may not meet their standards (probably cosmetics) or because they found an anomoly in them (excess dust, supplier provided scuffed poly, etc). This could just apply to a small sample, but they may end up condenming large quantities of perfectly good discs to make sure they catch the ones that don't meet their high standards, doesn't mean they may not be perfectly good discs that burn nicely. For me, the small discount does not justify the possibility of not being satisfied with the purchase.

I just bought Premium A grade TYG02's (8x -R)from Rima for .275 per disc or $27.50 / hundred. So for the same price and some shipping you get premium and no worries.
It once stated on Supermedia's site that "Value Line" were B-grade discs due to the product not meeting the standards set by Taiyo Yuden. This from TY.
I have tried the value line once and had to throw away the top 3 or 4 and the bottom 3 or 4 discs due to the wrapping method instead of the cake box.
There's basically no guarantee of what "may" be wrong with the value line but buying Premium from a respected company like Rima puts those possibilities to rest. And the cost difference is minimum.
