Taiyo Yuden with CompUSA name - Club CDFreaks

I just bought 25pack dvd-r with the CompUSA brand name for sale 9.99. They were made in Hong Kong they only had 5 cakes. When in tested them they were IDed Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd (TYGO2) go figure that. Hope I got a good deal. All the other cakes were made in Taiwian. They said they will be getting in more but at the 14.99 price. CINDI

Sorry I am new and don't understand what your asking me? I used the DVD Identifer and SmartBurn and Nero to indenty. It burns up to 8X hope which is what you are asking me.

Only Made In Japan are real TY media.

Open dvd identifier (latest v3.6)
Click Identify
Click Media Code Block
Paste the media code here (up to 0800 is fine)

I'm interested to see this "fake" TYG02 media block.

I have made several DVD burns just now one of Resident Evil 2 on this media and it has turned out fine, using just the free software. CINDI

Have you scanned the disc with Kprobe? Or nero's disc quality check?
Even a speed test should show if the disc is any good.

TYG02 ... is the suggested write strategy.
Most (decent) branded discs have a company unique code.

Cheap dodgy companies will have a fake media code they "borrow" from a decent companie's media.

Usually though, it's an older code.

But media made in HONGKONG/CHINA = crap, no matter what it claims.
