burnt great @ 8X, high quality scan even burn at 8X and even at 12X. But at this late stage, in the 16X burner era, might be too late for that.

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

I'm tempted to get some. I used to nearly exclusivly use these till they became rare. They burn quite well at 8x which is only 2 minutes slower than 16x, and like you said, some get good burns at 12x (havent tried myself). I know they last too (at least when burned on my old liteon 851s@832s). Here is a scan of a three year old disk, scanned just a few days ago.
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...3&postcount=15
I wonder where they came from. Last time they showed up, I think a few people got packs that were kind of beat up (they have to be old stock) but plenty got good media (there is a thread here somewhere about it). I think I might have to pick up at least 100 (and hope they are not too beat up as they have got to be quite old stock).

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

Yo-

Allmediaoutlet has carried these Ricoh 4x +R R01's all along - it is only occasionally that they throw in free shipping-

I bought 400 about six to eight months ago - and the first 100 burned flawlessly - when I got into the second pack I got eight coasters in a row - upon careful checking - the batch number was different - I then broke open the other two 100 packs - and thank god they were the same batch number as the first good batch - so I binned the bad pack of about 92 remaining discs - the good batch number is K4401928C - the bad batch that was binned - I didn't write the number down-

Bottom line - you can get some bad R01's (right chas0039) but if you get good ones - they are VERY good-eh!

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

I havent personally tried any of the ricoh branded ones. Mine have been mostly imation, maxell, tdk, with a few fuji and rca. The branded ones have all seemed to be good. Hey mike, I think it was when you ordered that I was thinking about. Didn't a few people get questionable packs that looked kind of beaten up (like broken spindles)? I might still have to chance a 100 pack for 23$ shipped.

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

WoW, I am surprised RIPIT that you haven't ran into Ricoh media especially you are using imation and maxell. I say around 40% of +R imation are Ricoh and, 60% are CMC and Moser Baer. And some +R MIT Maxell are Ricoh made too. I guess you are unlucky Ripit to buy those 2 brands and haven't gotten any Ricoh MID. Oh by the way, Ricoh media are exclusively +R.

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

I am really only a fanboy of ricohjpnr01. I'm not saying that r02 or r03 are bad, just that they are not in my experience, as outstandingly good as r01. In my own personaly experience, I would put ricohjpnr01 on par with ty and mcc. The 4x stuff has gotten kind of rare. Most of the new stuff I have gotten has been mcc, and a little tyt02 and maxell002. It seems that the ricohjpnr03 has been working quite well with recent model benq drives though, so I may see how well it does on my 1640. I still have a few hundred r03 somewhere if I am not mistaken. I could never reliably find r02 by the way. With r03, it would seem that there is always a chance of getting ritek instead which kind of scares me off, unless we can find for sure how to identify it. With Imation and maxell 4x, they were quite reliably ricoh and ritek was rare.

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

Ricohjpnro1's have always been one of my favorite media (I use Ty and Verbatim exclusively now, so I am comparing it to top of the line media) and burns great at 8x. I also have a standalone recorder for my tv, so no sense wasting money on 16x media for that. I'll pick up a 100. Good find.

But, in general, RICOHJPNR02/03 are no where near as consistently good as RICOHJPNR00/01 This drop in quality seems to have coincided with when Ritek started sucking in general

I don't know if it's the U.S. or what, but I never see ricoh media anymore. I have never seen their DL media at all and I would like to try one.

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

those 2 posts of Ricoh are indeed OD brand media. Ricoh can also be found under imation brand, maxell brand, but rare in maxell, as rare as finding maxell own media. Your best bet is imation, but too much risk because you might run into CMC.

Sorry, I meant FastAss's shop4tech post of $24 for TY02's. Should have been more specific.

Shop4Tech consistently has a working 10% off code, thus it's the lower price.

Re: Ricoh 4x DVD+R $23 shipped

If any1 wants Potentially RicohjpnR03 for lower price, OD is having a sale on their own media, look for serial number in the inner ring D110******R. Those scans I posted, are from 100 disc spindle, bought a couple weeks ago for $19.99. Now they are having the same deal.
