Get the -R (CMC MAG AM3) and burn them at 8X , they should be good . Even +R CMC MAG M01 is good @8X burning speed but AM3 is more compatible

On the tuner, it looks promising so far (got it but haven't played with it or installed it yet). The usb receiver both receives and transmits (designed so that the computer can send signals to your cable box etc to change channel). It would be cool if that would work with a converter box for after all the broadcast signals go digital. I'm guessing it will. the only thing that sucks is that beyond tv only comes with a 90 day trial on the program guide (but should still work as an htpc front end). I cannot find any reliable info on what it would cost to upgrade beyond tv other than to upgrade from the se 3.5 ver to the 4.? full ver for 50$ (there are suposed to be subscription options).

Does anyone know of any alternatives to the beyondtv program guide?

You must have got better CMC MAG M01 media than I have. Every batch of it I've ever bought has been junk. Not a single burn worth keeping that I can recall.

the batches of officemax crap(magnavox) started out ok but lately I won't touch them

even the new verbatim(neon?) has been iffy, one coastered out half way into the burn, and that's the first disk that did that in months of any kind

I stocked up on Verbatim from this guy on eBay.

He has older 25 packs, some CMC and some Prodisc +-R 16x, but they both burn very well!

Buy 300 and it's <$12 a 50 pack shipped.

Typical 8x burn. These are TDK branded from a 15-pack I found on clearance at Target in the states.

The Ativa disks come direct from CMC and are made specifically for Office Depot. If you've ever seen the unopened cases you'll see that they ship them direct from CMC here in the states.
