Next weeks ads (12/11/05 US)

Obviously I am running pretty late. I had to work late (working a lot more hours due to the holidays) and of course it is getting to be a lot more work as the holiday ads are so much larger. Anyway, here they are. Fyi I am off next saturday, so even though it is taking longer to do them, I should be able to get them out much sooner than this week.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/sales/ads/index

There seems to be lots of media this week including a good deal on verbatium dvd and some tdk 16x (havent ran across any of those yet so no idea what they are). Also, I scanned all but the first few pages at 150dpi and resized to 100dpi, instead of scanning at 250 dpi and resizing to 100 dpi. I'm going to have to do this to speed things up during the holidays, but let me know how they compare to previous post for readability. If they look ok, I might start doing that permanantly, if not, then just for the holidays. Let me know what you think. Fyi the first scan or two was at 250 dpi if youi want to compare (oh yea, you don't know what the first scans were, they were the first pages of office max). .

Do you have norton firewall running? If so try temporarily turning it off as that has caused problems for others.

Can you view this?

Re: Next weeks ads (12/11/05 US)

wow, prices are really coming down. at the moment i have about 50 dvds in cases that are awaiting covers. how about some sales on hp21 and hp22 ink cartridges!!

i have 100 spare DVD+Rs but maybe if I wait until i actually NEED blanks, they'll come down in price even more.

Re: Next weeks ads (12/11/05 US)

I think I might have to start posting a note each week about norton blocking access to the scans as it seems to have been a problem for some others too. I assume that you just temporarilly disabled norton firewall and it worked?
Fyi I'm open to sugestions that might help make this more easilly viewable to norton users. I havent got a clue how to address it though.

I don't see much for good hp ink sales. Office depot has a free greeting card kit with two hp inks or an hp twin pack (50$ minimum). staples has a free 20 pack of hp cd-r's with a twin/combo pack of hp ink. I'm not sure about hp ink, but in the past with canon ink carts, office depot was the best place to buy. Wait for them to go on sale, then use online coupons to bring the price down further (you may have to select in store pickup to get the sale price if it is an in store only sale).

Fyi at office depot right now, 29.99 for one of each, apply 10 off 50 coupon and get two for 50$ + tax and free shipping. I'm not sure if that is a good deal or not. With canon carts, you would have to wait for them to go on sale for it to be a really good deal.

Thanks ripit.

Is the HiVal internal dvd burner at compusa a benq 1640 oem? if it is, looks like a good deal. I know a bunch of people have been looking for it.

$30 for the combo pack is the standard price (or $15 for black, $18 for color if you buy separate)

that's probably the best deal i'm going to see if I order the two. I should have done more research on ink when i got my new printer. I like it a lot except ink is hard to find (no local stores carry it so i always have to order online which isn't THAT huge of a deal, but still), and it's rather expensive.

they don't even make generics for those particular hp cartridges...although i think switching to poor quality generic brand canons was what killed my last printer so yeah... i guess that's what happens when you pay like $3 per cartridge haha. it was like free ink after ordering them online then trading in the empties at staples

Re: Next weeks ads (12/11/05 US)

I got lucky and found very high quality refill ink for my canon that comes to about a dollar a cartrige. I ran it in my old canon and got 5 years out of the printer. It still prints fine but the carrage is getting worn out so there is fine banding (hard to see but it's there) in photos. My new canon works just as good as the old one did on it. Hp's are defanatlly one of the most expensive to run.

The Proximitron (a local proxy I use) blocks the link because of the word "ads" in the URL. Perhaps Norton does the same thing.

And ripit, thanks for posting these ads every week.

I'm so glad you posted that. I have changed the name in the past for various reasons and it did seem that the number of views suddenly dropped off when I used this name. Thats enough reason to change it starting next week.

Do any of these links get blocked for anybody?

I'm kind of wondering if the word sales might also be blocked?

Those 3 links are fine.
The other links are blocked by NIS unless I disable NIS.

Re: Next weeks ads (12/11/05 US)

That did the trick Ripit!

I don't have to disable all of NIS, just the "ad blocking" in the "Anti-Spam blocking" menu.

Those work great for me. I was having to use IE because FireFox's Adblock was blocking the normal page but I can view these fine.

thanks man

Re: Next weeks ads (12/11/05 US)

I'll change it next week in the main post. If any of you have had problems and happen to read my post next week, let me know if the main post with the html (menubar across the top) causes anyone any problems of if it works beter. It would seem the word ads in a url trigers several ad blockers.
