| newegg security Not sure this is the right place to post this, but when I searched for Newegg this was the top forum result, and I figure a lot of people are using Newegg when buying hardware. Anyway, last night I was going to order a $7 Liteon keyboard and some cheap DVD media from Newegg. I went through the order process and there's a step in there I haven't seen before, some kind of "security code" from my bank. At this point I got tired of all the extra steps involved in placing my order and decided to wait until I had more stuff to get. I closed the security code window, and then logged back in to Newegg to check my order status and cancel if need be. Nothing came up. Now I was just checking my email at lunch, hey an email from Newegg! and that same order is at Step 5, ie already shipped. I never even completed the checkout, so I have to wonder how this has happened. Anyway, I don't mind that the order has been filled, but it makes me think twice about their security when my order can be charged to my card without the submission process being completed. Or maybe this is an issue with my bank? I don't know. I just thought people might like to hear about it. *Edit: woohoo, now I'm a Rookie! ![]() |

| Re: newegg security I have done business with Newegg over 50 times and never have I had such an issue. They do have a telephone number on their site, why don't you call them and ask?

| Re: newegg security I called them up just now. It's called Mastercard Securecode (probably the same thing as through Visa) and it's mainly there to prevent chargeback fraud. Apparently cancelling it doesn't affect anything. So, nothing to worry about. I'm glad, too, because I've had nothing but good service from Newegg. |
