Maxell DVD+R Japan $14.99 50pk @ Office Depot - Club CDFreaks

Office Depot has Maxell DVD+/-R 50 packs on sale this week for $14.99. I picked up a 50 pack of the Made in Japan +R media, and it is indeed "Maxell 002" media code. Excellent quality for the price.

All of the Maxell -Rs were Made in Taiwan. I believe they're usually Ritek, or CMC.

i wonder if that would improve with SB known on?

i'm totally out of media at the moment. I might pick up a spindle of these to play with. I also have a 1640 BSOB so it should be interesting to compare

Also was burned at 8X, give me a few.... I will let you know, (SB known set to on scan) would be interesting to see

i don't dispute that maxell MIJ media is widely regarded as high quality. it's just that with my 1640 (and I'm sur ethe same is true with corvette), I am VERY used to getting consistent 98 and 99 scores with TY media. 94/95 is a bit of a cause for concern.

it's by no means a bad burn, but probably just not what he's used to, that's all.

Yet anther scan with SB on/on rest default BTW smaller file 8X burn speed

I would agree. These are scanning with a total number of PIF errors that is 3-4 times what I see with YUDEN000 T02 ( on all my burners) and the max levels are also quite high. I also get better results with MCC 003 and MCC 004.

However, for $15 these are OK and there will more than likely be some burners that do better.

Yeah, I was kinda hoping for TY, but for 15 bucks these are pretty good.

I use this media with a Strat Swap to Prodisc04 and burn it at 12X and 8X, with better results. Try it, you wont be dissapointed.

In both my Benq 1620@BtW9 and My 1693@KSOB.

Try a Quick Swap it wont hurt and I guarantee it will improve.

i can't go out and get any because we're in the middle of a snowstorm

I'd like to see the results of the strat swap in a 1640 BSOB. corvette, are you willing to sacrifice another disc or two?

maybe if the snow dies down later i'll be able to go out. I'm stuck in side with absolutely no media to play with

Here is an Maxell002 8X Burn using Prodisc004 Strat.

I cant Find my 12X Burn Using Prodisc004 Strat but it was really good, better than the one below using Mcc004.

Snow? LOL it is sunny 76, I have not seen snow in 3 years...

but then again I am in the deep south, I am not sure how you do a strat change on a BenQ

These can be any of 5 different media IDs and probably more are aded each week. Only RICOHJPNR02 would be worth the risk and a 1/5 chance oe pretty slim odds. Choose only the +R and the odds get better, 1/3, but you might get Ritek R03. The Taiwan R03s are adequate burned at 4X. Any China made R03s are best thrown in the trash.

I have had great results with the Maxells you indicated...DVD+R MIJ. I have been using them a long time with no issues at all.

I have already in my inventory about 200 +R and 275 -R from "Maxell" all rated at 8X and all made in Japan. So for the time being I have no need for Maxell.

Not as good as a burn that I get with my CMC Staples media! Very strange!
