All Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R is TYG02 with the exception of the value line discs, which can be TYG02 or TYG03.

Re: Hub Printable Taiyo Yuden DVD-R Supermediastore

As Two Degrees said yes they are TYG02 but I'd advise staying away from
the Value line of TY discs they are not all that great IMO but the Premium
line has always done good for me.

Yo-

I think this would be a safe buy for a couple of reasons:

-the ad says 'Premium'

-they are 'White Inkjet Hub Printable' - and I have never seen the 'Value' discs in other form than silver-eh!!

Re: Hub Printable Taiyo Yuden DVD-R Supermediastore

I booght these two week ago when they were on sale and then they did not say they were Premium in the add and what they are covering up in the picture is that the cases say microboards technology at the bottom. I the picture this is covered by the disk and 8x. I also have read the writing in the center of the disk and there is different numbers of some of the disk. the numbers on one disk were BN618A403023GG
I looked through the disk and they all look real good. Burnt two of them so far without any problems. I have used both supermediastore valueline and premium line and not had any major problem with either. The box these came into me said made in Japan boxed in china. The also come in nice 25 disk cases. I wander about the fact that the cases say Micorboard technology on them but I still think they are great dvds.
When I got these they have the paper sleeves with them.

Also what gets me is that 100 pack is 29.99 while a 200 pack is 69.99. I for one would just order to 100 packs instead of the 200 pack.

That's nothing to worry about, Samlar. Microboards is the importer. I used to buy TY CD-R's
directly from them ten at a time when they cost $8.50 each. They've been around forever.

But that scan. Yikes. I was just about to place an order, but now I'm having second thoughts.

Re: Hub Printable Taiyo Yuden DVD-R Supermediastore

Was the first one burned at 12x? I know that's the default speed for my 111L with TYG02.

The amount of PIF's is way out there. A lot of this is voodoo and wishful thinking,
but I sleep better at night when the PIF's are in the 0-200 range. Between the new
writers and media, I find it harder and harder to repeat the results from just a few
years ago.

The second burn looks much, much better. I'll order a couple of boxes and post some
scans when I start burning. At $30 shipped, I'll take a chance on them.

two of my cd packs came with the cases cracked/have hole it in. tried to email supermediastore twice since Tuesday and have not had a reply. what's my next step to get supermediastore resend those two 25-pack cases? i emailed them and said i will send those back if they send replacement but no reply. i'm very disappointed with their service.

Re: Hub Printable Taiyo Yuden DVD-R Supermediastore

I have purchased from them many times over the years and the always are great. Did order the wrong dvds one time and they sent the correct ones at no charge even though the mistake was mine. I sent the wrong ones back to them at the post office at the media rate since you can CDs Even with insurance it did not cost me much.

Media Mail is used for books, film, manuscripts, printed music, printed test materials, sound recordings, play scripts, printed educational charts, loose-leaf pages and binders consisting of medical information, videotapes, and computer-recorded media like CDs and diskettes. Media Mail cannot contain advertising.

The maximum size is 108 inches in combined length and distance around the thickest part.

Mark each package "Media Mail" in the postage area.
It says recorded cds but they did not stop me from shipping mine back this way.

Call them it is faster than emailing them like most companies they take a few days to get back to you when you email them.

Just a heads up.......you need to be wary of doing this. USPS Media Mail, as you said, is required to actually have "recorded" material on the discs for it to qualify for the reduced shipping rates. I wasn't even aware of this fact until recently, even though I had gotten away with it a dozen times or more when I was selling blanks on eBay a while back. However, I only recently learned of this fact when I bought a 10 pack of Verbatim DVD+R DLs from a guy on eBay. He sent them to me via Media Mail, and the post office looked inside the package (as I have learned they normally do in Media Mail) and determined they were just blank media (which they were). The postal carrier left me a note saying there was postage due on these. I had to go to the post office and pay the extra that was due from the higher shipping rate. Moral of the story is: do this at your own peril. You may get by with it, but you may not. If they catch it, they will either send them back to the sender, or charge the postage due to the recipient.

If I were going to ship blanks through Media Mail again, I would write a note saying something like, "Album collection on CD for (insert recipient's name here)", or "Movie collection on DVD for (insert recipient's name here)" on a note and tape it inside on the discs somewhere conspicuous so that it at least looks like it could be more than just a package of blank discs. For the most part, I doubt the post office personnel will go to the troble of taking a disc out to actually test it for content, but I'm sure there are a few that will.
