Fry's Electronics had a one-day sale Friday on an Emprex 18x DVD burner for $19.00 after a $20.00 rebate, and the reports that people are sending back is that the drive inside is a Sony AW-G170A, which is really an Optiarc AD-7170A.

How good is this burner, especially with L&D's modified bitsetting firmware?

Although the sale is supposed to be one-day, it's believed that it will actually last throughout the weekend. There have been other sales on the Emprex drives at Fry's, so this is also for future reference.

would not trust MIR, i've been burned so many times, the only rebate that i would consider doing is staple easy rebate, cuzz they can't fuk up, just don't open the box till the rebate is verified, something happen just call them up n complain. newegg has them for 30 bucks shipped (i think when freeshipping pops up), so just take it like that, think that you got a 10 dollar instant rebate, instead of 20 bucks MIR ... the difference isn't big enough for me to dive for the risk of MIR.
