The pictures look like a lite-on and it uses smartburn and smart-x but wheres the seamless link buffer underrun tech coming from?

My guess is they could be shipping two different drives.

Seamless link I know is a feature on AOpen products...not sure if other burners use them or not.

The actual drive in the picture looks like a LiteOn indeed...but the picture on the box to the left of the drive looks like an Optorite.

So Im not sure what kind of drive it is.

If it is either of those two brands...then it would still be a good burner.

Looks like a LiteOn 811. That would fit with the 40x cdr write speed.

811s' can't burn DVD-R at 8x tho.

If it were a LiteOn, it would have to be a 812s to fit the 8x DVD-R

Yes, you are correct. I doubt you could get an 812 for that kind of money. The Optorite seems the more likely possibility. Of course that assumes the specs are correct- mistakes have been made.
