Re: $59 for 300/16 Max SATA

It means that it's really a 320gb HD. Saw the external version at Wal-Mart this morning with the same thing on it.

The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness.

Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

The truth can be found here http://jhtalisman.blogspot.com/

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for the want of an understanding ear. - Stephen King, intro to "The Body."

Re: $59 for 300/16 Max SATA

Bought two from frys last month at 69.00
They are indeed Seagate. The Seagate is "Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS", the Maxtor just adds an "M" STM3320620AS and shortens the warranty from 5 to 3 years.

Computers calculate gigabytes as 2^30 bytes (1,073,741,824 bytes). Manufacturers calculate gigabytes as 10^9 bytes (1,000,000,000 bytes). Take the ratio and you get approximately 1.073. For this 320GB hard drive, divide 320 by 1.073741824 and get 298.GB - precisely the number windows shows as the capacity.

Re: $59 for 300/16 Max SATA

I am waiting for the Hitachi to release their 250gb HDD with 32 meg of cache 7200RPM that supposely be faster than the raptor in raid and non-raid config. Their 1TB version kills the raptor in almost all tests, even sustain data transfer but 1TB in raid config overkill for my system. I dont need that much storage. And the 250 gig version suppose to be 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the raptor. If you guys are looking for storage/backup data HDD, than this is a good deal. But if you guys are looking for HDD to use as booting HDD, wait for the Hitachi drive
