WMP and Track Names

what is it that WMP sees on store bought discs that tells it track names?

if i burn a cd from mp3s that i own (even if the file name is the name of the song) WMP has no idea what the title is.

is the info stored in a file somewhere on the disk?

can i write this file and put it on the cd i burn?

Re: WMP and Track Names

WMP consults a CDDB internet database.

CD-Text is the only way to store the titles in an Audio CD.
Most programs and players can't read CD-Text.
