Audio Discuss, What will replace the Audio CD? at International Chat: Software related forum; What do you guys think will be the successor to Audio CD's. DVD-Audio, that Sony enhanced CD or what? I reckon it might even be DataPlay . It has built in Digital Rights Management, so the nice folks at RIAA are sure to like it!

What will replace the Audio CD?

Are the disks cdrw? Or just cdr?

I gotta agree with the above two...however I believe that SACD will be temporary before DVD audio takes over somewhere down the line...

I read in PC World magazine that a few optical drive makers have established another blue laser drive that is compatible with DVDs. Personally, I think this is tremendous news because people have finally caught on to the idea of players that do not make previous formats unplayable, as with DVDs being able to play CDs.

I do not have a link to this information but will go looking for one soon.
