| What "audio settings" should I use? I feel stupid asking this question, but here goes... What "audio settings" should I use? I'm using CloneDVD2 v2.4.5.4. On the "Audio & Subtitle Settings" window it has the "stream configuration". Left side lists: -Audio Streams English Dolby AC-3/2 English Dolby AC-3/6 Right side lists: -Audio Channels 2 channels 6 channels I'm confused about the AC 3/2 versus the AC 3/6 and the 2 channel versus the 6 channel. Which ones should I select? If I select both, it decreases the quality. Most times, it doesn't effect it much but I just copied a DVD that would have had a quality less than 50% if I had left both of them selected. So, I deselected one of them (not sure which) and it sounded terrible. The music and sound effects were great, but I had to turn the volume up full blast to hear the talking.Should I keep both 2 & 6 channel and both Dolby AC-3/2 & Dolby AC-3/6 selected when copying to avoid this type of problem? Has anyone else ever had this type of audio problem? If so, was it caused by deselecting one of these options? Am I correct to assume that 6 channels are better than 2 channels? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help... Cj |

![]() Probably you didn't notice it, being new to the forum, but the post you've just answered is 1 and half-years old (16-10-2004), so probably the original poster already found the answer to his question. Regards, ![]() ET

| Re: What "audio settings" should I use? However... Even though a post is 'old'... a question unanswered can end up just 'clutter'. In other words, other people may find these questions/posts later... so posting the answer here, is still useful. I agree with xs that an answer directing people to search elsewhere... isn't much of an answer. Since xs didn't come back to it... maybe I will... (or not ). What I am looking for is how much value there is in, and what you need to make use of, 6 channel sound... to determine whether I should keep it. I would suppose, that if you don't have a 6 channel speaker system, then keeping the 6 channel sound, and deselecting the 2 channel output, is going to result in the lesser quality (as in the downgrade in vocals that CJ experienced)... just guessing. "Comments" are often in yet another 2-channel audio stream. I do notice that some DVD player -software- (like older WinMediaPlayer versions) just don't have the same volume output, and you end up having to crank up in-program volume and regular volume control, just to hear decently... whereas other software, like PowerDVD, seems to have more 'normal' playback volume. Otherwise, on some DVD's you have fullscreen and wide-screen selections... two complete copies of the content... so you can choose to eliminate one of those and keep all the audio streams... (but the 'comments'/audio may be tied to one version or the other, and not both full and wide screen?). Anyway... maybe that helps a little. |
