Re encode MP3 Files

I am looking at compressing (i guess this is what you call it) some MP3 files that were recorded at 128 to 32 or 48 to reduce the file size for posting on the internet. However, I am used Cdex to reencode them to a lower bitrate but am getting a squeal in the file. Can anyone explain to me what might be happening? or what other software can be used to fix this problem.

Thank you for your time

Re: Re encode MP3 Files

Try at 64kbps or 96 see if you still get so-called squeal...
Are you posting on net both video and audio or just the audio?
I just re-encoded an mp3 from 128 kbps and set to 32 kbps min and 40 max with Cdex version 1.70 beta2, and it sounds fine on PC.....

Re: Re encode MP3 Files

I am using cdex 1.51. I will download a newer version. Would selecting multiple tracks to reencode at one time cause an issue?

Thanks for the responses. I will also take a look at mp3resizer
