Please help with CD Burning!

I am not the most proficient at this, but I will try to be as thorough as possible.

I have a Panasonic voice recorder that I use to record business meetings. After editing the files, I convert them to a .wav format - but the most it will save at is 8 kHz.

I downloaded the free version of Nero, and have been trying to burn the .wav files. The cd would burn, but then would not play on my regular CD player. After doing some research, I thought I needed to convert the files to 16 kHz, which I did with Sound Recorder.

They STILL won't play on my regular CD player.

The copy protection box is NOT checked.

I don't know if I am giving enough info or not, but ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!

TIA,

Beth

PS I'm using Windows XP Pro if it matters.

Re: Please help with CD Burning!

The correct settings for CD format are:
44100 Hz, 16 bits, stereo.

If Nero accepted those files, then it probably means that it already converted them to the correct format, and it should burn OK.
There's a "Play" button under the tracks. If they play OK, then it should be OK.

What is your regular CD player? Does it read other CD-Rs?
Did you try to play the CD in your CDROM drive or other drives?

If you can play it in CD-ROM, the problem is burning quality. That drive isn't able to read a bad burned CD: change media or burner.

What's your burner?

For some reason Sound Recorder won't let me convert to those settings.

The burner is Lite-On LTR-12101B.

I downloaded current drivers and the most current firmware I could find.

I'm baffled!

Re: Please help with CD Burning!

You don't need drivers or firmware.
Try to play that CDR with your computer drives.
If it plays, then the conversion is OK, and the problem is that your player can't read that CDR because the burning quality is bad.

BTW, if you want automatic with most typical WAV formats conversion and burning program (better than Nero and "free" forever instead of 1 month) you can try Feurio.

Sound recorder is not the best idea...

Feurio doesn't recognize my cd writer! I think I'm going to lose my mind!

OK ... I finally got Feurio to recognize my cd writer - I'm giving things a try now!

Thanks again!

Re: Please help with CD Burning!

remember to try that disc in your computer drives...

And before burning remember to use the "Play" buttons in Nero or Feurio to check that the WAV files are properly resampled by those programs.
