| Playback problems hello i'm having trouble playing audio cds on my pc, the sound is very distorted and crackly, just like the speakers are being pushed to far. files on the hard drive and video clips all play perfectly but not cd's in any of my drives. i am running XP with media player 10 and the problem has only appeared sinse i intalled the latest media player. all codecs seem present and intact and i'm a bit stumped. i know this is probably not the right forum for this but microsoft support web site had no problems like this listed and it would cost me £35 plus vat to email them!!!! can any one help? |

| Re: Playback problems I have exactly the same problem and the only fix I use is not to play DVD's or CD's on the computer. There is nothing wrong with them, I've played them on other devices. I can play DVD games with no sound problems. Movies are an issue and playing cds in itunes or anything gives exactly the same problems as the poster of this topic has. Its been a few years, but I hope someone has some answers. I would like to play CD and movies on my pc (xp)! It use to be fine and then suddenly I have no idea. Dell wants me to buy new dvd software, but I doubt that will fix the problem. I've tried other players. Nothing and if itunes can play them either then I dunno. I have to import and then play. Also it seems to slow down the pc. It also affects webpages, become slow because sound issues. e.g on Youtube...sound is terrible when I have a CD in my combo drive. Anyone managed to work this out? |

| Re: Playback problems It's "been a few years" alright!... maybe try VLC or MPC, instead of WMP ,which most likely needs the right codecs installed...

| Re: Playback problems I did try VLC some time back and even that had problems...I don't think its a codec thing then? I dunno, I'm stumped and there doesn's seem to be many people with this problem! So much for Dell support too! Rubbish! Cheers for the reply though. |
