Philips DVD+rw 416 - CDS200 beater?

I had the bad luck to buy my first CDS200 protected 'CD' yesterday (REM - Document/Life's Rich Pageant double album reissue). Needed to make mp3 copies as my home audio system is laptop-based.

Found this forum and spent several hours trying the various solutions (Isobuster, EAC, Feurio, CloneCD, etc.) I got the best results from CloneCD but the ripped CDs suffered from a few jumps and stutters.

When I got home I stuck the protected 'CD' in my PC with a Philips DVD+rw 416 DVD drive, and what a result! Straight into the audio tracks with no problems at all. Ripped the files with WMP9 and then burnt them back onto CD.

So the moral of the story: try as many different CD/DVD players as you can before spending five hours trying to crack the protection with software!!

And if you've got a Phillips DVD 416 hopefully it will work for you too....

Usually that is the best troubleshooting idea for beating audio protections; try to read in a different drive, preferably a known audio protection beater. Software is important, but the right hardware makes all the difference in the world.
