I have a Plextor IDE 8x4x32 and a Pioneer36x.
I have burned a mp3cd (using nero) and when i play the songs from the plextor i get perfect sound.

But some songs, when i play them from the pioneer have strange clicks in them at the beginning. Some of them also have sound from other tracks on the cd.Lasts just for a second or so.

When i copy one of them to the harddrive from the plextor it still sounds great.
And when i copy from the pioneer the clicks are still there.

How can this be?
Its the same file for gods sake!

Please help

Re: MP3 problems, real weird

Okay, 4 years and no response to this question! That can't be good. Also, I'm having the same problem, and I didn't know it was that common, yet I don't know wtf it is either! Someone please tell me what's going on, I play tracks and I hear bits of like 10 other songs play in sequence. I don't even know how to google this for help.

Thanks,

C

Re: MP3 problems, real weird

Some drives are pickier than others.

Lower burning speeds to 4x or lower if possible.

Use good media with good Dye, Tayio Yuden is good for Audio, so is TDK Dark Blue and Memorex.

See if that helps and report back.
Good Luck.

Re: MP3 problems, real weird

Well I don't understand how that can be THE problem, because some of these tracks have played fine for like more than 2 years and then one day boom. Also I had a bit of a virus/worm/trojan/spyware week and spent some time on another bulletin board with people helping me fix it all. So I don't know if that had something to do with it, because I haven't heard of a virus that affects your mp3s in that way. Is there anything else you can think of that may be the problem?

Thanks for the response!

Re: MP3 problems, real weird

If you burned a data cd (mp3cd you said), that's really crazy, because many errors in files on data cds aren't ignored when copying them to the hard disk, windows often brings up an error message... How about copying the same file from the Pioneer and a second time from the Plextor and comparing those files with a Hex-Editor (Hex-Editor MX can do this, I think, free for download at http://download.nextsoft.de/hexedit.zip ).
I'm wondering if there are any differences to find
But I'm sorry for lacking a direct solution to your problem... never had any problem like this before.

Re: MP3 problems, real weird

Did you check for firmware updates on the drive?
--Sometimes they match more media and maybe it is indeed a media problem.

Have you tried different companies with blank cdr's?

Obviously the Pioneer is the cause because even after a copy to the HDD the clicks are still present on the songs.

I'm just brainstorming more ideas.

Re: MP3 problems, real weird

Please, correct me, if I'm wrong. You took the mp3 files without editing and burnt them right away, didn't you?

Well, the specification of mp3 files says that there are data sectors at the beginning and at the end of the files. These fractions sometimes look like a fade-in or rather jump-in and may cause clicks. What you need to do is edit the compilation before burning. Nero does it in the editor (double-click on the file), Feurio does it better. There is also a thread about burning without gaps, it might be helpful.

Re: MP3 problems, real weird

okay LOL I never bothered to check back here cuz I forgot.

ANYWAY so I'm still having the mp3 problem, and NO ONE knows wtf is going on, and people think i'm crazy, and I just havent had the time to burn some messed up songs on a cd just to prove i'm not making it up. ALSO! I noticed one other strange thing...pictures I've taken with my camera phone and uploaded to my computer have one by one become corrupted or something and then gone.

: So first my mp3s and now my images. I just finished doing some hijack log thingie to get rid of all these virus/worm thingies off my computer so I'm not sure what it is.

If anyone wants me to send them an example of the funky mp3 file I can, but I'd rather not, cuz if it is some weird virus, i certaintly don't wanna be blamed for spreading it!!
