| LAME 3.92: --alt-preset standard or --r3mix? Hi. Which compression setting is best for LAME 3.92: --alt-preset standard or --r3mix? I'm currently using --r3mix because it uses VBR and achieves a good ratio compression/quality. |

| --alt-preset standard I believe that even the r3mix guy recommends this setting now (although for some reason it is still --r3mix on the site). Check out this site. alt preset standard is also VBR, but it is at the code level, instead of a mix of settings that may not always work harmoniously. I had to re-encode my older lame --r3mix encoded mp3s after finding out. ![]() |
