I'm having problems with a cue file

Hello:
I'm trying to burn an image file, cue file. The music album comes complete, and the tracks are separated, that's what I can see in the original folder. There comes two options to burn, ape and cue, but I cant open the cue with Nero, nor with Alcohol. I've used dBpower, ans yes, I can convert it to Mp3. The problem is that it converts it in one block, I mean the tracks aren't separated as is in the original.

By the way, i've added the Monkey and some other Plug-ins to nero, but I don't know how to use them. Thanks for your help fellows.

In the original folder, what files are present?

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

Open the cue file with notepad and show us its content. Maybe there's an error.

You can also convert the APE file to WAV (better than MP3) and change the proper line in the cue file to point to the WAV instead of APE.

Yes, here's the cue

Hi:

See, I'd like to convert it to wav, but they are too many CD's, actually 32, so I want to use Mp3 instead. I opened the cue file, hope this is what you asked me because I've never done it before. In the original folder there are APL files, the tracks. Well, please enlighten me a little bit more.

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

You can see that
FILE "Mozart - The Piano Sonatas, Vol.1 - Disc 1.wav" WAVE

is pointing to a WAV file ("Mozart - The Piano Sonatas, Vol.1 - Disc 1.wav").

You need a WAV file with that name in the same folder as the cue file.
You have an APE file instead of a WAV file, so, logically, it fails to load it.

Now that you have a MP3 file, you can change that line and write something like this:
FILE "Mozart - The Piano Sonatas_in_MP3_format.mp3" MP3

Keep in mind that when you encode to MP3 format, you are losing audio quality.
APE format (MonkeysAudio) is a lossless format, and is a perfect copy of the original CD. Converting to WAV is also a lossless operation.
MP3 is a lossy format.

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

I've changed ape to wav but it won't load. I think the problem is that these files come in APL format. Maybe there's something to be done with them?

I have converted them to Wav, but the problem is that I get a single file, in other words a single track instead of the separate tracks as they originally come, in APL format.

Help! I need Somebody, Help! not just anybody Help! You know I need Somebody Heeellpp!
Just Kidding.

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

If you can hear the WAV file, then everything is correct.

You should be able to load the cue file, unless you use Nero, which is buggy and some versions can't load the cue file if there are blank spaces in the name of the file:

FILE "Mozart - The Piano Sonatas, Vol.1 - Disc 1.wav" WAVE

Change it to something like:
FILE "PianoSonatas1.wav" WAVE

Or use a program better than Nero...

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

the problem is simple after you add APE plug to nero you can burn it as an image

click nero/nero express/"click" disc image or...... then choose APE in file format (MAKE SURE YOU ARE INSTALLING APE PLUGIN RIGHT IN NERO FILE) choose the file u want to burn , a.................nd up we go

CDCDCDCD if u have APE file no need for cue it won't open (APE kinda look like iso), cue just for bin,i wonder why you saw it there

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

On the same topic, I also have CUE/APE files, but also CUE/FLAC files. So the best way to handle these is to covert them to wav, edit the cue file and point the the wav file? Also, coverting to wav, are you just renaming the file or running it through a converter app? If so, what would be a good one? Thanks

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

APE and FLAC are both lossless compression formats.
You have to decode the FLAC file to WAV, and you'll notice that it will be bigger than the FLAC file.

http://flac.sourceforge.net/

There are some plugins for Nero that could make it easier.

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

I had the same problem with nero even after installing required plugins.
The simplest solution is to use program 'burrrn'. Download :http://www.burrrn.net/
It will solve your problem with any format (ape , mpc, flac etc.You only have to drag up cue file)

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

Hi
I'm having some related problems...
I have a bunch of APE files (19 CD's! - one APE for each CD) with cue and apl files with all the information for each track. What I would really like is a tool that can convert those APE to MP3 but using the information in the APL or CUE files to separate each track in a different MP3 file.
Does anyone have any helpful hint for me?
thanks in advance!

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

one way of doing it.
convert ape to wave with dbpoweramp
slip the wave with eac
then you can convert to mp3
may be a better way of doing it ...

Re: I'm having problems with a cue file

Thanks for your answers!
But, uhh, the sijama's link doesn't seem to point to anything related to APE files (it's a page about mailing lists)...
And, Cerberus, well, I can convert the APE to WAV (I've done that using Monkey's Audio) and then go to the hole process of spliting and converting to mp3 and finnaly renaming all the files one by one. By that will take months!
WHat I don't understand is the purpose of the CUE files or the APL files. They have all the info I need to split the APE or WAV giving good names to the final files. There should be a tool that can make the transform in one step

INDEX 01 53:42:52
TRACK 09 AUDIO
TITLE "09 - Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major K216 Rondeau Allegro"
INDEX 01 63:47:70

I tried burning using burrrn cd writer, but i got the following error:
Finished processing file #1.
Finished processing file #2.
Finished processing file #3.
Finished processing file #4.
Finished processing file #5.
Finished processing file #6.

ERROR: Cannot open audio file "E:/burrrn_temp/01_CDImage.wav": No such file or directory
ERROR: C:\Program Files\Burrrn\burrrn.toc:38: Cannot determine length of track data specification.

Any idea if there is something wrong with the files that i got. There is a file CDImage.flac in the same folder. I tried changing the WAVE in the first line to FLAC but with no result.

To be safe first decode the FLAC into WAV and then change FILE "CDImage.flac" WAVE to FILE "CDImage.wav" WAVE in the cuesheet file.
