Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

ok I have got nero to open the image files, however, there is only one track on the CD and its 405mb, but I cant figure out how to play it, and when I save it, its only another image file, I think this "track" is a bunch of MP3s or audio files but I cant figure out how to get to them, if you can explain what I am doing wrong, or mabye tell me what to do at this point that would be great

Well after looking at your steps your doing everything right, exept you need to mount both the bin and cue files, not just the cue file, after you do that it should work, you have to make sure both the bin and cue files are mounted on the virtual frive

But I still cant figure out what to do with the 1 track that is 405 MB big, this is the Abercrombie and Fitch September CD I am trying to rip, if anyone can tell me what to do or what I am doing wrong. Again I am only getting a 405mb file that is one track when I go to save tracks, and then its only alowing me to save this as an image file or ISO, I have a feeling this 405mb chunk is a few MP3s or audio tracks I just cant figure out how to view them

Eh, how can you mount two files on one drive? I didn't think that was possible.

ya, when you mount the .cue file it will automatically mount the bin file also. the cue file is just a pointer to the .bin file.

Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

I still cant figure this BS out, I use ISO buster to get the CD image, a bin and a cue file, I then mount the files with alcohol on the virtual drive, then I open up nero and go to save tracks, select the virtual drive but I just get 1 track, that is 405 MB, this isnt making any sense I have tried everything, either I am doing somthing wrong, or somthing isnt working, if anyone has done this process with a PROdisc from like Abercrombie or some other store and has gotten it to work, please e-mail me at ahernnic@msu.edu or post on here exactly what to do all the way from the begining to the end. I am trying to rip the september disc from A&F if anyone can help please post

Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

Hey how's it goin' fellas.... Well I've done everything EXACTLY as blackbeauty7123 has stated and I too am getting the "no Disc" error.
Software in question:
Alcohol 1.9.5
Nero 6.6.18
ISOBuster 1.8
I can't even get Nero to show any files like ahernnic stated. I just get the "No Disc" error....

BlackBeauty.. Help! :-)

I have 10 ProDisc CD's and 3 of them are A&F Discs.

Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

By the way If we figure out how to rip these things would anyone care to exchange images? I'm willing. Since these discs are difficult to come by, I think it would be cool to collect as many discs as possible.. Just a thought. I have ripped a .BIN and .CUE using ISOBuster but when I use ALCOHOL to write that image to CD, The ProDisc player rejects the disc. Am I doing something wrong?

Can you re upload PSMPlay? I found other programs on the Internet, but they were different from the one that you have on your website. If you could put it back up, that would be great

Wow that method worked great!!

If anyone can upload the images besides October 2005, that would be great. I'm uploading October 2005 as we speak, so if anyone can upload November and September or any other cds you guys might have, that would be awesome. Btw, i am using http://sendspace.com/ to upload the images..

Thanks!

ACtually Chris,

what i'm doing is ripping the audio, coverting them to mp3 via Razor lame, and i'll go ahead and upload the four different mp3s into one .zip / or rar file.

If anyone care to post other months, you can do so by visiting...

http://aftunes.textdriven.com/

and posting it in the "Adult Store Full-Month Playlists" section.

Thanks!

Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

Okay my issue is this: I have PSMPlay, have had it for a while. But when I attempt to run it on my WindowsXP machine, it says it's missing some file and the program will not run. Also I don't think I'm ripping valid .BIN / .CUE's as I cannot seem to be able to write them back to CD properly OR be able to open the contents via the Mounted IMAGE fial in Alcohol or access the files with the player in NERO.... As soon as I'm able to figure it out, I'll be more than happy to share .BIN / .CUE's with people. I want to be able to write them directly to CD so I can play them on my ProDisc player...
Thanx you guys this is really cool.

Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

Hey Truman how's it going - I didn't ignore your post wayyyyyyy earlier about using PSMplay to attempt to play the "music" file. I just couldn't get PSMplay to run on my system. Now I have it running, but when I go to open MUSIC.XA, it gives me an error stating:
The File Format Is Unsupported. (CODE = 00000000)
I wonder if I did something wrong? Extracted the contents incorrectly with ISOBuster? Any suggestions anyone? (Maybe this is why the copied CD's will not run on the ProDisc player...?)
:-(

Hi. Hmm, there could be a number of reasons, but 2 things I can think of:
1. CDROM/DVD drive does not read in the data in raw format properly - I suggest try using a different drive.
2. Not all CD-I disc's have it's audio in ADPCM format.

Does the CD you're using lists the file in ISOBuster as they are like in my screenshots? I mean does it show a file named "music"?

It is possible that the files are different, and I guess may be as MPEG files, or in some other format.

Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

No, actually something's up. I have the following CD/DVD media drives in my computer:
#1. Pioneer DVR-106D
#2. HP CD-Writer+ 7200 (I have this old drive for nostalgia reasons)
Get this -
The ORIGINAL rip that I did with the Pioneer last week was unreadable. I could not read the "music" file WITH PSMPlayer OR the AEI player.(When I wrote the bin/cue to CD).
I ripped the "music" file off with the Pioneer TODAY (Dec 9th) and the music DID NOT PLAY with PSM player. (I did it precisely as shown on your screenshots)
I then ripped the same file from the same disc with the HP 7200 and it *DID* play.
I then swapped the disc BACK to the Pioneer drive and ripped the same file from the same disc and this time it DID work. So I think I may have a bad Pioneer drive. No matter, 'cos I'm fixing to get a Dual-Layer DVD-Writer anyway. Either way - I've now been able to rip "music" and decode to 44.1KHz .WAV and all's well. Now all I wanna do is suckcessfully rip the .BIN / .CUE and be able to COPY these CD's and have them play also in my AEI player... Gonna experiment more on that later. But for now, I'm here rawkin' to my AEI CD's on my computer. One thing I CANNOT manage to do though is get the .BIN / .CUE to load with Alcohol as the virtual drive. I'd like to be able to play "music" directly off the CD's with PSMPlayer without having to rip. Any suggestions?
MANY THANX to Truman and the others in this thread...

Re: How: Ripping Prodisc, AEI music CD from retail stores

What do you mean "such a place"?
Express used to be Structure. In 2000, some of thier stores used to have the old AEI "ProPac" cassette system. I know this because some friends of mine gave me some of the tapes from that year. So this leads me to belive that Express may be using one of DMX Music's many systems. It could be ProDisc, It could be AXIS, It could be ProFushionX. It it's Axis or ProFusionX - you're outta luck bud.
