How to extract audio files from unfinalized CD

I am a pastor at a church. We utilize a Sony CD Recorder to record all sermons. Last Sunday, we had an awesome sermone that is being requested like crazy. The problem: the cd recorder will not finalize the CD (we keep getting an "Incomplete!" message whenever we attempt to finalize it). The CD plays back with no problem, so I know the sermon was recorded to the disk. However, since the CD is unfinalized the audio data is unrecognized in regular CD players and PC CD-ROMS.

How can I extract (I assume I'm using the correct terminology) the audio files off of the unfinalized CD? I'm hoping I can somehow salvage the message and place on another CD for distribution. Please help!!!!!

i dont know if cdrom/dvd-rom drives can read unfinalized cds but any cd/dvd burner should be able to read it , then you could just rip the tracks to the hard drive (i recommend exact audio copy) , then use burrrn to burn it

Welcome to the forum

Just a curiosity: you said that the CD plays back with no problem, but how did you listen that CD if you said also that regular CD players and PC CD-ROMS are not able to recognize the disc?

Re: How to extract audio files from unfinalized CD

I listened to it from the same drive that it was recorded on in the Sony CD recorder. Of course, this is the only place that it will playback on. It won't finalize, so a regular CD player or PC will not recognize the audio file on the CD.

Re: How to extract audio files from unfinalized CD

hmm I have no idea if it can work, but try run ImgBurn, and then insert the disc on a CD burner on your computer. Can you see the disc information on the right panel?

ImgBurn offers the possibility to finalize open discs, but I have no idea if this can be the solution of your problem. Please, be aware that I'm not sure at all that this is the right solution.

Re: How to extract audio files from unfinalized CD

I have a similar problem a with cd that I recorded some music on to a few years ago with a marantz seperates cd recorder

.The problem is that i forgot to finalize it ,sold the cd-recorder so I have know way of finalizing with that .
I know its possible to do as ive done it before ,just cant remember how

No apps that I have recognize that there is a cd in the drive (including my os xp) imgburn does recognize it but wont do anything with it .

As far as i remember i solved it before by using 1 app to copy it to another cd and then i was able to extract from that one i just cant remember what apps i used

If any one could help id be really greatfull .
If i figure it out first ,ill be sure to post the solution for others ...

Thanks & regards
