How do I rip music from a PS2 Game (more specifically a .BIG file)

Ok, I REFUSE to believe, with all the bright hackers and crackers and stuff out there that this cannot be done. I refuse.

Game: Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time
Format: PS2 DVD
Files: SOUNDPS2.BIG (286 MB)
SOUNDPS2.FAT (64.2 KB)

Already tried: MFAudio v1.1 (Unrecognized Format - All RAW settings I tried gave me static)

Winamp 5.0 Pro (Ripper saw as 1 track, Data File - No Music.)

So, what can anyone tell me? I don't want to download the songs already ripped, I want to rip them myself. What programs/methods can you come up with.

Side Note - my next things is gonna be ripping the movies, and that has the same file setup MOVIESPS2.BIG and .FAT

Take a look here for ripping out music (unless it's already ripped).

I dont understand what you mean by "rip", do you mean to remove them from the disc so you can make it smaller (for example to fit onto DVD-5 if it is a DVD-9 game) or to convert the music to mp3/wav or somthing so you can put it on Audio CD to listen to?.

Re: How do I rip music from a PS2 Game (more specifically a .BIG file)

I havent seen any .BIG files but right now in trying to rip the music from Dave Mirras freestyle BMX 2 ps2 game and i have it loaded up in MFAudio and i cant seem to get the settings right, i have it on Interleave 800 bytes and offset 0 bytes, if i have the offset set to A0 it does the same thing, so far it sounds good but one channel the right channel is behind the left channel why is that, does anyone know the offset and interleave settings for that game and also does anyone by chance have that big ass master list of games that has all the interleave and offset numbers on it it basically covered every game and I cant find that on the net anymore, if anyone can help me please comment on this forum b/c im not putting my email on here b/c i hate spam, sorry, any help is greatly appreciated

lol im commenting on my own comment well actually this is for anyone trying to rip the music files from dave mirra freestyle BMX 2 open the music.ZSD file which is in the assets folder under audio I think and then set MFAudio as follows:

Freq. 44,100hz
interleave 800 bytes
offset 800 bytes
Channels 2

now hit play, if done correctly you should hear Sublime's song doin time and it should sound as clear as it does in the game now set the output file as microsoft RIFF uncompressed wave set the freq. to 44,100, channels 2 Bits 16, hit save as and give the wav file a name and specify a folder to save it and then hit save and then hit process, now do grab a cup of coffee or something and when its dont youll hear a sound your done exit MFAudio and find your file because your gonna have to split it up into individual songs use an editor like GoldWave (the one I used) or audicity or whatever one you want and cut each song out of the big wave file and save it you may need to load the game up to get the song title/artist info save each as an mp3 or whatever format you want it in and thats it, Mission Accomplished if you run into any trouble shout out on this forum and ill try to help, Again I only do this for fun and for my personal enjoyment of these songs

Re: How do I rip music from a PS2 Game (more specifically a .BIG file)

in case anyone might be looking for this heres a pretty big list of games and their parameters for MFAudio:

I got this off some portuguese site and it was translated by google but i understood it fine all you really need is the paremeters for MFAudio

This tutorial one will go to teach as to rip music from PS2 games, being used as example the game GTA Vice City so that you it can make a compact disc with those excellent songs of the game.

First you it will go to need the Mfaudio program for conversion of the archives of audio of the PS2:

This tutorial will teach you how to rip music from GTA Vice City so that you it can mount a compact disc with those excellent musics of the game.

First you it will go to need the Mfaudio program for conversion of the archives of audio of the PS2:

http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/MFAudiov11.zip

1 - It places the record of GTA VC in drive of DVD and extracts the following archives:

Name of the station and the archive:

Emotion FM D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\EMOTION.VB
Amazing radio D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\ESPANT.VB
Fever 105 D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\FEVER.VB
Flash FM D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\FLASH.VB
KChat D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\KCHAT.VB
VCPR D: \ AUDIO \ MUSIC \ VCPR.VB
VRock D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\VROCK.VB
Wave 103 D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\WAVE.VB
Wildstyle Pirate D:\AUDIO\MUSIC\WILD.VB Radio

2 - Now to convert musics you need to configure the program:

2.1 - Opens the program.

2.2 - Click in the button “Options” in it I sing right inferior and I configure the options in accordance with below:

Sony ADPCM - Uses Extended Flagging? YES
PSS - Scan whole file will be streams? NO
PSS - Scan up you? MB? 8
VAG - VAG version to number? 0x3
RAW - Default PCM frequency? 32000
RAW - Default ADPCM frequency? 32000
Set default to player will be? None of the options

Hit OK.

2.3 - Now click in the button “open” and selects and opens the archive of the desired radio.

2.4 - In the option “File parameters” (below of audio Input file) configures the options in accordance with below:

Frequency: 32000
Samples: 16 bits.
Channels: 2.
Interleave: 2000
If the value will be 20000 canals L and R will go to join.

Offset: 0
Stream: this option does not have to be moved.

Click in Play, and sees if music this touching correctly, In case that not, presses “stop” and verifies the options and sees if it does not have no missed inserted value.

3 - Now we go to configure the conversion options.

3.1 - In “File Format” (below of audio Output file) it selects the option: “WAV - Microsoft RIFF - Uncompressed PCM”.

3.2 - E in “File Parameters” (below of File Format) configures the options in accordance with below:

Frequency: 44100
Samples: 16
Channels: 2

Remembering that the value of “Frequency” can be 48000, but the risk of music runs not to fit in the compact disc.

Now click in “Process” That the program will go to convert the archive *.VB for *WAV.

Obs: Only tera a band with all musics and commentaries of the Dj, uses for example sound forge to separate in parts.
