How can I change my Nero MP4's AAC track into an AC3 track?

(My first post in these forums, but I'm no n00b at encoding)

I have a standalone Philips DVD Player that 'claims' it can play .MP4 movie files, but it can't play them unless it has an AC3 audio stream. Nero Recode (including many other Encoding programs) blocks me from choosing which audio compression I want to use in the .MP4 container... they all just 'assume' that I want AAC, when I really want AC3.I just want to use .MP4 movies, and not have to worry with the whole DivX mess (I hate .AVI files).

Is there a program like VirtualDub that can process the .MP4 file and re-encode ONLY the Audio stream without affecting the video stream?

I tried google, but always come back empty-handed.

You would need an expensive tool because of the DD5.1 encoder.

Re: How can I change my Nero MP4's AAC track into an AC3 track?

Well, is there any way that I can use any other audio than AAC? could I somehow rip the audio stream, and replace it with an mp3 or m4a version?

My DVD player supports DivX and XviD, and Sony PSP MP4s, but plays the PSP's MP4's without audio... so I get silent movies... I just want to be able to put MP4 files onto a DVD-r, and watch them on my Player.... simple as that. I hate messing with DivX, and having to re-sync the audio and stuff... I just rather stick with the MP4 file format, since it's the future of next-gen HD content anyways.

Maybe the Philips support has updated the players firmware...
